Democracy is not for all. Either that or democracy is just an illusion. Otherwise, why would children, young people and women always get worse off in this planet? Goverment policies always favour older men. ALWAYS. Possibly because governments accross the globe are made up of older men who want to stay in power and drink martinies in the evening? I've never seen one government policy that actually favours those who are the weakest or most vulnurable in society. Where's democracy? Or, maybe, the most vulnurable people are not the norm in a society and therefore has no say? So is that a limitation of democracy, an imperfection?

So... why are government policies always detrimental to the welfare of children, youth and women?

can you give an example of a recent government policy that has been detrimental to youth or women?

In America they always try to help children and mothers of those children

that aren't married and can't find work. They have many types of programs

to help them both as well as free education to help the mothers get what

they need to get a job. Children go to school for free and can get aid in

college tuitions at many colleges. If that's not helping I don't know what is.

No, no, no... college tuitions in North America are ridiculous, and the policies that come with them are even worse. For instance, someone with a lot of debt from college tuitions is unable to declare bankruptcy. That's the ONLY instance when bankruptcy is not allowed. Rules for driver's license are also clearly unfavorable towards youth even though seniors are equally bad when driving. Child care funds lower and lower every year. Our children's teachers are paied peanuts. Grants are cut. I mean... it's pretty obvious that the government doesn't give a flying fuck to children, youth and women. :bugeye:

Well in America maybe. Car insurance is regulated by companies not governments. As for the rest of those things thats probably to do with tax cuts on taxes you guys have moaned about. If not, Where are u saying this money is going? and where should you take it from.

Exactly! Because they gave the tax cuts to the rich and to the corporations....

Right now the government has a huge surplus. I wonder why.....

Personally, I don't think you know what the hell you're talking about. You seem to bounce around, back n' forth, doing little more than complaining. And apparently complaining instead of working to make more money for your family. What is it ...you're gonna' want someone else to take care of you and your family next? And then you'll complain about that, too?

Oh! How stupid I am! I totally forgot that there are absolutely NO LAWS regulating transportation!! My bad... how stupid I am...!

No. In fact, the government seems to only be able to create obstacles whether then anything good. Immigrating? Obstacles. Working? Obstacles. Small business? Obstacles. I can see a trend....

I would really like to see some evidence for that assertion. Are you really trying to claim that the lives of children, young people & women are worse off today than they were 1000 years ago? Worse off in a democracy than in a monarchy or under feudalism or under a dictatorship?

In modern Western democracies, if you want your rights you have to be a pain in the arse. You want to get noticed and have someone take you seriously, be a thorn in the side to the posh White bastards that run the country.

Humm.... pardon me, maybe I didn't word that very well.

What I mean is that they are always worse off compared to the rest of society. Which is understandable. Why anyone in congress would give a shit about kids? All the lobbysts also protect the interests of older men. Let's face it, older men have always had the most power. Women, while having gained many rights, still clearly get paied less then men. This is also seen in immigrant communities compared to national communities. The interests of older men born in the country are the ones that are always protected. Even the prices of houses clearly show that, and of course, the lack of programs that make housing affordable to young people.

Lobbysts are the ones who really control "democracy". And those lobbysts are EXPENSIVE, so only rich older men really have a say.

Please elaborate. Are you saying democracy does not exist?

Do you know how much it takes to make a bill pass in congress/House of Commons and then at the senate? You need to have A LOT of influence. And influence=money. Therefore, democracy is a COMMODITY. Democracy for sale here. You have to be rich in order to really have a say.

Or do you really think that your vote is worth ANYTHING? Seriously...

Fuck... 3 years ago I should have written my essay about that.... LOL!! :D
