If someone were to invent a profoundly safe motorcar, one which would preserve its occupants without serious injury even in what would now be considered the most mortal of wrecks, but it was unstylish, would you get it?
I propose to follow the opposite strategy. They should make any crash lethal for the driver inside. Maybe then they will start paying attention to pedestrians and such.
