What makes a man sign up to kill other people?

How does a person point a weapon at another person they do not even know, kill them and go home to a "normal" life?

How do they justify taking away someone's right to life?

It is universally considered justifiable when the other person is trying to kill you.

Money is a very motivating factor. Many of the young people that enlist are from poor or very poor families that really have no other means of employment. Then comes beliefs, like in believing that you are protecting your homeland or your religion.

So you are saying that you feel it is okay to kill if you need money? And if you believe it is okay?

When you kill someone and get paid for it, does it bother you at all?

Do you remember the people you killed or do you forget them?

What does it feel like after killing a person? Is it easier after you kill many of them?

I'm not talking about circumstantial killing or criminals. I'm talking about good, honest people who make it their profession to kill people for a living.

Arms dealers start problems everywhere just to make money. Leaders of countries want to protect themselves and pay people to do so instead of putting the money into businesses that help their people rather than killing them. If you ask me what I think, that's a different matter, I only answered what I thought people enlisted into the military for.

Money and/or enjoyment.* (social benefits like retirement and health insurance too)

That's not what I or Cosmic said, we just answered your question...

If you are in a philosophical mood, ask us:

What makes a person to sell dangerous drugs?

    * Oh, I forgot to add: religious beliefs...

If it's a time of war, and the enemy is bringing the war to your turf, then there's nothing really wrong with killing the strangers that compose the enemy army. It's just self-defense.

Okay, maybe I missed the intention of your thread.

Perhaps it was kill or be killed? Money is a big factor aswell in these sort of things,

I am not ashamed to say this, but, if i was told to kill someone or my family would be killed if i don't then sorry i will kill!

I'm not talking generalities here. As a person, what makes the person select the choice to enlist in a profession where they will go kill strangers?

What does it feel like when they actually kill someone they do not know?

Do they remember the people they killed? What do they think about them?

It is a job. People are paid to do jobs. People enlist into the military in order to work because they cannot find work any other place at the time. They are told what to do as a military person and must follow orders.

Actually most homicides are coimitted by family members or relatives in most cases. People that know each other that get drunk, get angry or just go nutz at their friends/ relatives.

So when you have a job of killing people, you just do it. You take a weapon, aim it at people and after they are dead, go home and relax in front of the TV with a beer. The people who died, with families and dependents or perhaps as in the case of bombers, the civilians and children who died, are "just a job"?
