Pentagon to Families: Go Ahead, Laugh (http://articles.news.aol.com/news/article.adp?id=20060113074909990039&cid=1976)
When the stress of the war in Iraq becomes too severe, the Pentagon has a suggestion for military families: Learn how to laugh.
Yeah laugh ... right up until you get that dreaded knock on the door.

Actually, Brian, that's interesting. Because I just saw a short piece on the news that made that same comment ...and they were respected, knowledgeable doctors and psychologist discussing depression and the care of the elderly. Yeah, in test after test, laughter really is the best medicine. I'm glad to see that our military is staying up with the times concerning the care of our dedicated men and women in the services and their families.

Oh , I , think this is a little different , American soldiers are dying at a rate sometimes as high as 10 day . Some 2000+ have died in ambushes and how many maimed ? 10,000 . It must be a living hell for American Mums and Dads and wives , daily worrying about their loved ones . Laughter wont remedy their fears , bringing them home will !

Oh, I agree, laughter is a great remedy. However, WHAT THE HELL are these vets and families gonna laugh about? Exactly how can they apply laughter to the cause of their stress and misery? Laugh about how they were all duped into fighting a war for the rich men as usual? Yeah, it is pretty amusing, in a sad and pathetic way. I continue to chuckle and all the people being played for fools. I only wish I could find humour in all this.

Laughter helps; not having your children killled might help even more.

(Isn't this is where you're supposed to quote the bully from The Simpsons..?)

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...

Life's a piece of shit, when you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true
You'll see its all a show, keep 'em laughin as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you

You act/talk like the only thing in their lives is the war ....that nothing else happens in their lives that they can't laugh about. Are you that way? Is there only one thing happening in your life, even if it's a monumental issue, surely there must be more to your life than that one issue?

Even the soldiers directly involved in deadly combat can laugh when they return from a dangerous patrol. In fact, in my own experience, that's exactly what was done ...lots of laughter and jokes and humorous banter.

Sorry, I misread. I thought the families were supposed to laugh AT the war to solve their problems with it, heh. I was like, WTF?

But still, if you have to see a shrink to get emotional advice from, it does seem like all they have on their mind is war.

Walnut foley
Why does a vets family need therapy, if the vet is the one putting pets to sleep, and doing traumatic dog heart transplants, should not the vet himself need therapy, to cope with it all.

I get the picture, im just taking the piss out of walnut, who worded his thread wrongly, like he is concerned about american veterans of war, give me a break, he is more concerned if the iranian president, has about or the runs, than the feelings of my American brothers, the only person that needs putting to sleep here is walnut.
