View Full Version : The New Battlestar
CounslerCoffee 02-15-03, 08:00 PM Those retards over at scifi channel have really done it now.
They are remaking battlestar, first of all, you cant remake it... You should continue it. Not ruin something thats already perfect.
ALSO, you cant make Starbuck a female! THATS RIGHT! STARBUCK IS GOING TO BE A WOMAN!!! I BET THAT HER AND APOLLO HAVE A LOVE SCENE! Whats up with scifi channel ruining everything?

Hannibal 02-15-03, 08:50 PM Battle what?
I agree with it having to be remade from the start. There were a lot of inconsistancies, given the halfassness it was put together with, and where exactly to pick up, especially since the characters obviously have to be different actors. It's a matter of keeping with the basic scenario, with improved graphics and character depth. Whether or not that will happen is debatable.
As for Starbuck being a female...while I'd prefer to see it as close as possible to the TV show, as long as they don't get stupid with it, why not...
What would you NOT want to see taking from the TV show? My first vote would be the whole daggit and kid, Boxxy?...something irritated me about that.
I want to see serious battles, like the later B5 series...
THEY CAN'T *** DO THAT THE ***!!
Thor, you know better.
CounslerCoffee 02-16-03, 05:37 PM Yes Thor, Im mad to. Scifi channel has made the biggest mistake ever. Oh, and this just in:
February 9, 2003: According to an article in issue #102 of Dreamwatch magazine, the SciFi Channel rejected J. Michael Straczynski's proposed new series Polaris because they deemed it "too science fiction-y." Mr. Straczynsk reveals that instead, "...they went for a project about intergalactic vampires called Bloodsuckers."
WHAT THE FRELL ARE THEY SMOKING?
Okay, maybe I'm too optimistic. I can at least hope for some decent graphic updates while the plot goes to hell. Unless they screw them up as well.
At what point is calling it BG morally wrong, when everything is totally changed?
Too sci-fiish....that's funny. That's like CNN refusing a breaking news report...
EvelinaAnville 02-16-03, 10:43 PM btw, I think CNN does that all of the time.
I don't get scifi channel sometimes. It seems it is often more like "horror" channel than "scifi" channel. Battlestar Galactica might be cool if they made an updated one. I don't know, I just like anything that expands the amount of science fiction I can see :) Of course, the actors in Battlestar Galactica were what made it special to me. Adama played by anyone but Lorne Green is going to be very strange. Kind of like all of the sorry ass captains that have come along recently on Star Trek series.
EvelinaAnville 02-16-03, 10:47 PM Oh, and Counselor, shouldn't they call her "Stardoe" or something instead? :D The buck part is part of his swaggar and daring, in my opinion. Calling a female Starbuck is silly. Why don't they just make Adama's (first) son the female. He was always kind of a pussy anyway (j/k). teehee
Sorry Counsler, but I am outraged!! That was my favourite show while growing up and Starbuck was my favourite character...and he should stay a guy!!!
The only good thing I can see is as Jaxom said, graphic updates, hopefully no more repeated/reversed scenes.
But if they stay true to the story it should be good...but how is Starbuck gonna have a love thing with that woman, I can't remember her name, it's a name of that constellation. Are we introducing intergalactic lesbians or something...maybe that's how they plan to get in the ratings!!!
EvelinaAnville 02-17-03, 06:13 AM Maybe his name will be Andromedo or Cassiopio. :)
Honestly, if they change some of the characters or character relationships (the soap opera part of the story) it's not a huge loss to me. What I want kept is the overall plot, the race for find the lost colony, to survive elimination, the whole "ragtag fleet" thing. And the Vipers. :)
CounslerCoffee 03-03-03, 03:12 PM Oscar-nominated actor Edward James Olmos is close to signing a deal to star as Cmdr. Adama in the SCI FI Channel's upcoming four-hour miniseries and backdoor pilot Battlestar Galactica, the network confirmed. Meanwhile, another Oscar nominee, Mary McDonnell, has agreed to play the role of President Laura Roslin. Lorne Greene played Adama in the original 1980s TV series.
The cast includes British actor Jamie Bamber as Apollo and Katee Sackhoff as Starbuck.
Michael Rymer (Queen of the Damned) will direct the "reimagining" of the classic Galactica, which begins production in Vancouver in March. Battlestar Galactica will air exclusively on SCI FI in late 2003.
Produced exclusively for SCI FI, Battlestar Galactica is written by Ronald D. Moore (Roswell, Star Trek: First Contact) with David Eick (American Gothic, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys) and Moore serving as executive producers.

I am sickened to the core
I'm ok with it as long as the story is brought to a conclusion,
How about it ending with Galactica being besiged by Cylon warships only to be saved by the arrival of a dozen starfleet Starships headed by a brand new 'Enterprise' of course with Admiral Janeway in overall command.
