Does status have a higher meaning for man or is it subjective? Why are men afforded greater status at the exclusion of women? Perhaps, there are various kinds of status. If there were no status, man would be equal, but this would be a detriment to our individuality and self-esteem. Perhaps status is an outcrop of Darwinian evolution.
100% subjective. I do not see room for argument, but others can try.

status is the result of the ability to have difference in composition, or to be in a different point in time and space than someone or something else. statis is inevitable because we are all relative to each other and we are not all in the same point in space.

Its true that we're all different in these essential respects. But it is how we as a relatively intelligent species responds to this difference that sets us apart from other terrestrials. Man is animal. This is the cause of his need for division and status. But unlike other animals, man is intelligent - intelligent animals in essentially what we are. But we have the potential to be intelligent beings without the primal aspects of our natures. This primal aspect is the reason we canoot live without the feeling of being connected with others. Hence is why we give ourselves to determinism. That way, we don't lose our connection with the precious humanity we hold dear.
