Sure far from Eddies Best, however the movie did well in the Box Office going number 1.I dont think movie critics are used to comedy that is common in the urban community or among many people.I just didnt see what was so bad about it,it served the purpose to make people laugh,it served its purpose as a comedy movie.Alot of Oscar nominated movies i saw i felt was a complete H.A.M(HOT,ASS,MESS).I dont understand movie critics, the comedy movies they find funny are among the most boring, dry humor there is extremely corny and a complete snorefest.Who saw Norbit? I laughed my ass off the entire movie.I just get the feeling movie critics play that moral, role model crap too much, its like they buy popcorn and go see a movie and the whole time they are grinning, taking bad notes, calling it crap to themselves, while 90 percent of everyone else in the audience laugh there rears off.Why movie critics again?

Norbit was a piece of shit. I wanted to puke when I saw that movie. The reason it hit number 1 was beacuase of the name Eddie murphy on the poster, and the hopes of those out there that he was still capable of being funny and not just a sellout.

WELL THATS WHAT IT DID.

It went to his roots of funny and it did what it set out to do.Many people felt the same way.The ticket sales for these type of movies never match the poor critic reviews.I mean Transformers and The Harry Potter movie was my favorite movie last year. But i would definetly say Norbit was the funniest.

RASPUTIA WAS HILARIOUS!

It was funny. Why can't movies just entertain? It doesn't have to have a huge plot and story.

Well, I went with my kids and they laughed their heads off, which got me to laughing. I suppose if I had seen it by myself, I would have thought it was lame.

Sigh. Just another movie masterminded to portray Black individuals as loud, overweight, obnoxious, rambunctious, rude, boisterous, raucous, and irrational people. I've had enough of these distasteful "comedies", which do nothing more than lower the stature of Blacks worldwide. I have too many good Black friends to tolerate nonsensical movies like this, or other movies that usually star obese black women that are noisy, ignorant, and clueless as to how half of the words they speak should be pronounced.

I cannot comment on the validity of the movie's comedy, but by the looks of the commercials alone, it bears a striking resemblance to so many similar films before it. I think Black people should stop giving their hard-earned money to see these types of movies, since it does nothing but embarrass them in the long run. I want to see more movies starring Black actors/actresses to play respectable roles in serious, down to Earth films. In the past few decades, Black people have been used in comedies, sports films, and dance/music style-movies far too much. If this trend continues, the already deplorable position Blacks in North America are in will only get worse.

Movies like this seriously piss me off.

Isn't it racist to say that black people shouldn't be in comedies? That they are above laughing at themselves?
Isn't it racist to hold people to a higher standard than others?

I am not saying Black people shouldn't be in comedies - I'm saying there is a highly disproportionate ratio between Blacks playing significant roles in serious films, and Blacks starring in sports/music/dance/comedy films.

Also, I'm not holding Blacks to a higher standard than others. I simply want to see Blacks do better, since I've grown up (and live around) so many of them. It's pointless to ignore how unsuccessful many of them are in today's society, and films such as this do nothing but contribute to digging their holes a little deeper.

Kadark i understand how you feel, however lets be honest, there are a large amount of obese fat black women that seen this movie and simply seen it as a funny movie, they never for once sat and thought bout being big, black and offended. This is usually due to the confidence in being aware though they are big and black, they are far from the stereotypes that the media or america puts out there about big black women.

I mean seriously ladies and gentlemen, when people go see comedy, they let loose of everything, all seriousness is left at the door for the overwhelming part. They want to laugh there heads off which science has jus proven is one of the best stress relievers because it plays a major role in releasing endorphines which elevates mood. Many people feel it is just too stressful to go see a movie an put all these whats wrong/whats rights by it,it kind of spoils the fun of just laughing. The reason these movies do so well is because people just want to LAUGH.

Kadark ,Tyler Perrys comedies are widely respected even among many critics and thats usually do to him turning comedy into expressing the problems in our community in a very realistic view. The Madea being in every black famly(My Grandmother),the lack of unity that exist in our family. It seems more and more black families have not had a family reunion in years. In ym family its been 25 years.Tyler Perrys movies are extremely funny as hell too,and the unique part is how it doesnt require harsh curse words to garner major laughs.I love that Madea lol.

However Eddie is just Eddie, that bold blunt old fashion street comedy that most americans just see as simply funny and down to earth.
