Exactly. russian sub commander, british spy, englishman, irishman, anything, always the same accent. In fact its not even an edinburgh one, really, im from edinburgh, and dont recall anyone sounding like him. Listen to the old bond films and compare and contrast the differences.

Yeah that was really bad in the Hunt for Red October. The thing is, the majority of the audience can't tell in the other movies. I honestly don't know the difference between a weak english, weak scottish, and weak irish accent.
