I saw this movie tonight and I give it an 8. I love Sean Connory. This almost feels like Indiana Jones. I loved the action, I loved the actors, and I loved the story.

I noticed that there is a character Dorian Gray in the movie, presumably the same Dorian Grey in Oscar Wilde's book "The Picture of Dorian Grey". I have an idea of what the story is about, but I am curious as to what kind of character he is in the movie. I know most of the characters in the movie have "powers" but how does haveing eternal youth help as a fighting power?

*EDIT* Sorry should have checked the site prior to posting, looks like it answers all of my questions.

What about Captain Nemo and his "atomic" submarine cruising into the canals of Venice?

Heh!

Sure was a hoot, though! Reminded me of a Michael Moorcock plot, with an inevitable world-destroying war approaching, spurred on by mysterious agents apparently representing no end but chaos, opposed by a group of heroes who seem almost a collection of rogues... That "Nemomobile" even looked like Jerry Cornelius' car.

Was it me, though, or did Sean Connery sound tired?
I mean his literal speaking voice, not his character/dialogue...

Dorian Gray was a guy who was immortal (he healed himself) just like the vampire lady. That movie was worthy of kick-ass due to Sean Connery's British accent, Mr. Hyde, and Skinner. I must agree that the nemomobile going through venice was kind of WAY OFF, but it gave me a laugh.

I want to see that movie! I saw it online just viewing the previews but unfortunately it won't be out here in europe for a short while. *mopes*

I read somewhere that 'it's from a comic book but Dorian grey is a fictional from mr. wilde himself. Good damn book, huh?
and Dr Jekyll, vampiress bitten by dracula himself and all that. It's a interesting concept and i'm glad to hear it at least got an 8 from you, Jerrek.
I'm also checking out that movie preview online called Underworld or something, it's another one of those fantasy kick ass movies that has to do with fighting werewolves and vampires.

I saw it the first showing. Lots of fun and a solid cast.

This movie is the ultimate in Lo-Tek!

I don't think the character in the book "The Picture of Dorian Grey" was invincible. I think he just had eternal youth. They might have changed his character somewhat for the movie to make him more...exciting?

yeah. he was shot in the chest about 20 times, and he healed himself (it was a really cool effect, it looked like sand was coming out of him or something).

this was the most ridiculous movie in the world. I have been known to suspend a lot of belief in my life but jesus....this movie was horrible...i would rather watch the movie RED DAWN if that goes to say exactly how awful LXG was.

1- if it was all moriarity's plan to get these people in there to use their powers then why get sean connery, he never got anything from him
2-what was with the sensless side story of his son?
3-the time period was far to early to have all the high tech stuff they did...i was waiting for nemo to start playing GTA3 on his playstation 2 aboard his nuclear sub
4- while in Italy two people jump out of a car moving 60-70 MPH and each of them land flat on both of their feet as if they had jumped off a slow merry-go-round
5-what was with the ending?
6-what was the useless sensless plug of connery not shooting the tiger that for absolutely no reason appears.

im sorry people...this movie ate the biggest bag of dicks...do yourself a favor and dont go see it
