Has anyone seen this movie? It’s based on the book by F. Paul Wilson and directed by Michael Mann.
It features Gothic horror elements, naughty Nazi’s and music by Tangerine Dream.
It flopped when first released but found a following when it went to video, its been described as one of the best most underrated films of the 1980s.

It sounds like a cross between Dick and Lovecraft. Is it really good or became a cult movie eventually after 30 years? Because I like movies of the sort. Wonder if I can find it here. Thanks.

I think it’s a good movie if you watch it without any expectations.
The music had a lot to do with it gaining a cult following, that’s why I think you really need to see a good copy of the film or the subtleties of the sound track wont come across.
The nature of evil is the main theme behind this rather simple story, although it toys with the idea of an ancient demonic evil that’s opposed to the evil of the Nazis which is interesting in itself.
The one thing I didn’t like about it was that they used too much fog it was obvious that they were using it to cover things up with.

I suspect that happened quite a few times in sci-fi movie history.

Well, the idea is interesting really. I imagine the ancient demonic evil wins and though exhausted it salutes humanıty and goes back whence it came, lol.

    Thanks for the info.
