Perhaps you might answer a query, xerxes. Why is it that with the 6th rite, one must be celibate? Why can't one simply balance the use of their sexual energy between actual sex and rite 6?

i want to participate in this, but after hearing the word celebate it made me not delve into this atall,

does it require celebacy to undergo these methods?

i have heard and read about this many times in scripts and doctrines of such. but i have followed some buddhist teaching and methods without bieng celebate.

is it required? and is there any point in me doing this if i remain having sex? will i still benefit. (selfishly ofcourse)

    peace.

You can do the first five. However the sixth is recommended only for bramacharya (not quite the same as celibacy..)

no they're refering to energy, not electrical charge. it is kind of mysterious/curious anyway, because many ppl seem to believe in it and some ppl can use this kind of stuff to break rows of bricks with their bare hands or heads...

Actually, everything is (built from) energy. You are energy, so is your computer and your desk.

    seekeroftheway,

This is the INTERNET. Do not ask me to elaborate on a single word that can be typed into wikipedia or google.

    s0meguy,
People of the Indian subcontinent like to use the 'chakra' system. Chakra means wheel in sanskrit. But they are more like vortexes. Often these 'chakras' correspond to nerve plexuses. And there are many, many more chakras/nadis than are referenced in this text.

Its basically one big metaphor for the bodies nervous system. You can actually use your nervous system to 'sync' the vital organs of your body through hormonal secretions. These excercises do that. Really, its like squeezing a lemon.

The chakra system is not something to be memorized and filed away. It is a tool that you can use to understand the complex mechanisms of the body through experience in the simplest terms. Not everyone is a PhD like spuriousmonkey, you can't expect everyone to go out and become a boring endocrinologist just so that they may understand the body a little bit better.

The body is one big wet cell battery. Now wet cell batteries don't last very long, so as you can imagine, the human body needs to be many orders of magnitude more complex to last almost a century. Knowing how to balance the chemicals in this battery will give you more energy and make you live longer.

You learn about this shit in grade 9. Its not hocus pocus, its simple science with many layers of abstraction.

I did that, it's a ceremonial way of practicing celibacy, I was rather hoping for your, how shall we say, "interpretation", seeing as how you brought it up. I assume you practice at least the first five rites?

After just recently breaking 6 years of celebacy, I can say from personal exp. that having sex drastically effects your internal energy flow.

Things are more chaotic, and slowing down into a meditative state requires much more effort. It's not more difficult, it's just more work to get there. Somewhat hard to explain.

The first five rights very closely resemble various yoga exersizes, as Dragon mentioned. The sixth is nearly identical (though less intense) to a morning exersize I learned as part of my Shaolin training.

The website also mentions some dietary restrictions, which, if taken in the contexts of todays scientific uderstanding of diet and aging, make alot of sense. Restricted calorie diet, simple foods, limited coffee or black coffee (or Dark Chocolate - flavinoids). The raw egg yolk may be the anamoly there - maybe the protien is helpful.
