I just learned about them making this book into a movie so if anyone enjoyed the book or wants a look at the 60's through a hip dudes eyes, read on!

The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test is a work of literary journalism by Tom Wolfe, published in 1968. Using techniques from the genre of hysterical realism and pioneering new journalism, he tells the story of Ken Kesey and his band of Merry Pranksters as they drive across the country in a DayGlo painted school bus dubbed "Furthur," reaching what they considered to be personal and collective revelations through the use of LSD and other psychedelic drugs. It covers their cross country road trip, as well as the Acid Tests, early performances by The Grateful Dead, and Kesey's exile to Mexico.

A film adaptation of the book is in development for a 2010 release. It will be directed by Gus Van Sant and will have a screenplay by Dustin Lance Black. Read more about the movie here, if interested...

Wow, I think he could do it justice. Psychedelia is really hard to film well.

The Who have made a song about this bus, it was called The Magic Bus. Other music groups also went on trips like this around the country as well during the last 40 years, the Traveling Wilburys being the last one that I remember doing it on a train.

The above is from the Grateful Dead's That's It for the Other One from the Anthem of the Sun Album.

    Fun stuff.

I never got into the Dead to much, just not the way my head operates although some of the tunes were very good I rather listen to the Pink Floyd or Cream to suit my needs.

Anthem of the Sun is the only Dead album I have, actually. Most of their stuff sounds like country music to me.

    LoL
