A wormhole opens up at the edge of Dominion space and near Tatooine. The Dominion, deciding to neutralizing the threat, begins immediate infiltration and prepares for war. Three days later, the Empire discovers the wormhole and begins sending ships in to conquer the Dominion.

We'll assume general competence (that doesn't mean that Star Trek takes out every super weapon in the garage...).

Right. An empire viewed weaker than a race that makes use of megawatt-gigawatt weapons and can't kill everyone at a silo doesn't strike me as powerful.

Don't know what you're referring to.

First Contact. The Borg want the Phoenix destroyed, and yet their weapons only cause minor explosions that are very low gigawatts at the best.

True. I was always a bit suspicious of that scene. Like:
Okay. . . so we have access to nukes now that can sterilize the surface, but this alien force--several centuries more advanced--cannot lob a few anti-matter missiles and take out the entire continent just for shits and giggles? Lame.

But, I thought we were talkin 'bout the Dominion?

Likewise, in various battles involving The Empire, they used soldiers and conventional missiles when a few nukes would have sufficed.

Poor writing should not distract us away from a "true" measure of how powerful an empire is.

Did I mention that the Empire utilizes teraton weaponry? TDiC, SoE, Survivors, The Nth Degree, Nemesis, and etc. are proof of sub-kiloton-kiloton firepower.

--Yeah, because a glorified life boat typically comes armed with nuclear grade weaponry. It's like claiming the US Navy's ships don't have guns because their lifeboats don't.

Which is funny that Anakin nor Grievous ever thought about that in Downfall of a Droid.

You've already been shot down for these claims. You only look like a butthurt child when you start this shit again.

And yet, a Star Wars fighter - a fighter - can fire terawatts of energy.

That's funny, because to boil away a lake like the Ontario Lake, you need to exert 10 teratons, and even then, it receives less than a percentage of that, so the yield goes up.

    No, I haven't.

No they can't. If you want to go strictly by visuals, their ships can't even fire terwatts of energy. Ie, we've seen their ships fight multiple times within planetary atmosphere. Their ships fire weapons only marginally better than modern day naval ships.

Downfall of a Droid took place between two enemy fleets in an asteroid field.

And yet, in the movies, we clearly see kiloton+ weaponry. Let's look at Star Trek visuals... uh huh, yeah, mm, uh huh, yeah. Well, they are sub-kiloton at best. However, given your affinity to cherry-pick like that, this should come to no surprise that you are pulling 50 megatons that Vivftp calced. I don't care about his calcs at all.

Wow... now what does that prove?

Anyway, ricrery aside, might as well go through and see what would happen.

    Firepower
Easily Dominion advantage. Even the Jem'Hadar ships are going to be able to overpower all but the largest ships. With cruisers and dreadnoughts backing them up, they should be able to keep the Empire off balance, even without the number disadvantage.

    Numbers
Given that Starfleet has easily 30,000 ships and probably 50,000 ships and the Dominion was able to match them is pretty telling. Remember that before the Dominion came along, the Cardassian Union was holding a stalemate with the Klingons. When the Dominion came along, they retook their lost territories in three days and eradicated 98% of the Maquis in the DMZ.

Given this and given that thousands of more ships were waiting in the Gamma Quadrant as a next wave, the Dominion probably numbers hundreds of thousands of ships--a rough estimation would probably be at least around a hundred thousand ships, though more are certainly possible.

    Infiltration
Despite the weapons advantage, the Dominion's true best ally is their ability to infiltrate the Empire. As an idea, even Betazoids and scanning equipment can't locate a Changeling (Betazoids can't even tell that anything's wrong). Given this, it's likely that the Dominion will do their best to replace admirals and key officials, though the Emperor is probably fairly safe, given his Sith powers can double as a last-minute defense against a Changeling assassin--even if we assume that their disguise would automatically work.

Given how in RSB it outright states that the Empire is incapable of amassing a superority fleet (despite being a drop in the bucket) because they were so occupied by the Rebellion that the Mon Calamari were able to publically oppose them and build ships within their own space, if the Dominion can incite the same rebellion, they could break the back of the entire Galactic Empire in one fell swoop--and better yet, ally with the Rebels. They can even use their own imposters to push the Rebels to their side (similar to how it's suggested that they did in DS9--we see a Breen held captive in the Gamma Quadrant just before the treaty with the Cardassians. In season seven, we see the Breen allying with the Dominion...*cough*).

    Troops
Far better troops. Even assuming general competence, the Jem'Hadar can be grown in three days for war, don't eat, don't sleep, are fanatically loyal, are three times stronger than humans, can shroud (ie, personal cloaks), and can walk through personal force fields.

We also know that the Jem'Hadar appear to carry grenades, combat knives, energy pistols, and rifles (of which, even if they simply glance you, they cause you to bleed and without serious medical help--will kill you within a day or so) and suggested that they do carry tricorders.

    Conclusion
The Empire can be defeated, but it requires the Dominion to be quick here. Even after the Empire has collapsed, they're going to require to conquer a fairly well armed galaxy. However, with hyperlanes and hyperdrives (converting them from gifted Rebel technology of course...) that shouldn't be a problem in terms of FTL. But there are mainly two methods that the Dominion will use to ensure this.

The first is the carrot. We know from Phantom Menace and the Clone Wars that even lush, well cared for planets can be considered to be 'starving' without proper supplies. The Dominion can end all of that; they can send relief aids and restore these planets to prosperity. Although the Dominion is a ruthless force and feared by its own populace, they are well taken care of. The purpose of the Dominion is to guide the solids and neutralize them as a threat after all--not turn them into miserable slaves.

The second is via force. This will regard most of the inner worlds, since most of the outer worlds (which are shit holes) will probably sign on with the Dominion (ie--Tatooine. Do the people want to be ruled by a amoral slave trader on dirt ball--or live on a paradise planet while they watch said slave trader and his family publically executed for his crimes?). The inner worlds and worlds strong with the Rebellion will probably refuse however--easily spotting it as simply another Empire taking place.

This will be the most difficult of worlds to take, but not impossible. Using imposters within these worlds and groups will allow them to fracture the allied forces and keep them off guard while the Dominion destroys one resistance cell after another--until none remain. The Imperial Reminant, if it does manage to form, will probably be the toughest, but then again, Changlings work great here too. Constantly having the already paranoid and egotistical Imperials at each other's throats is what the Dominion does best.

It'd be a long and hard war, but possible.

You mean from the rocks that have a tendency to explode on their own? Hardly kilotons.

Ah, more proof of how pathetic you really are. When pointed out that your own side gets shit on--you point to more outliers! Why, oh why do I not take you seriously again?

In short, come back when you want to debate rather than argue.

That they don't have teratons because both sides thought the asteroids were obstacles.

And you know--AT-ATs assraping the unshielded hulls of the frigates in the episode.

Explode on their own? What? To vaporize all of that, they would have to be doing 5.4 megatons per blast. That's consistent with low yield turbos, but a liar like you would deny this.

Listen, you stupid fucker, an outlier is something that doesn't fit with everything else. Let's see, Alliances, in-atmosphere shots from ships creates no mushroom clouds, TDiC has sub-kiloton explosions, Survivors has 400 gigawatts taking down ships, Nemesis has a 1.5 kiloton impact shred the hull of the amazing Scimitar, Skins of Evil has low kiloton fireballs, and Genesis has a flagship scared about going into an asteroid field full of small asteroids.

Now, you stupid fucker, tell me how each one of those instances that fit with one another are outliers.

In short, come back when you want to debate rather than argue.

    When?

My question is: Why would Tatooine be seen as a threat?

A planet full of drug cartels, slave traders, and otherwise poor peole, with very little technology to speak of. Doesn't really seem all that big a threat.

Also when you refer to Dominion, do you mean The Borg?

No, they see hutts as a threat.
