Me too. My all-time favorite show!! I've seen every single episode from the very first (started in 1963) and have many of them recorded. Incidentally, my favorites were Tom Baker and Peter Davison.
One woman I know will be in tears right about now. She's in England so she saw it on television, and she's a mad David Tennant fan.
The new season started last week on BBC America. They showed the first half of the first episode and the second half is due to air tonight @ either 8:00pm or 9:00pm Eastern Time.
Tom Baker was always my favorite, but I really like this new guy. It's a shame his tenure is coming to an end. He's really fun to watch. I loved the episode with the Weeping Angels. My ten year old son is still afraid of weeping angels because of it. PS How long have David Tenet been playing the doctor? I just started watching again last year. PSS Did Dr Who set off this whole new cascade of events by saving the life of the people on the Mars colony? PSSS I loved the comment by the master in which he said, "The human race was always your favorite. But now there is no human race, just the Master race!"
Yes, I like Tennant as well. Every episode has been good. He first appeared in late 2005. We don't know yet what, if anything, will come from that "Water of Mars" episode. That quote from the Master came from the first half of the new season that began last week. In the second half - which airs tonight on BBC America, it should become even more interesting - because the Time Lords reappear on Gallifrey. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! The Doctor is no longer alone with just the Master and his minions of Masters that replaced all the humans on Earth.
You'll recall his theory about there being fixed points in time that shouldn't be fucked with. So, he fucked with one of them and suddenly the entire history of the universe is in flux. I'd wager that even the reappearance of the Timelords has something to do with that event. (Sort of like the episode where Donna turned left instead of right and so never met the Doctor resulting in the destruction of the universe.) It will be interesting to see how they explain their re-appearance. It always seemed odd to me that a time traveling race could be wiped out in the first place. PS Are all the Master copies Time Lords or simply human copies of the master? If Time Lords, perhaps the sudden appearance of billions of new Time Lords triggered some sort of warning system that called the Time Lords to action from whatever time they still existed in....
I sort of doubt it - most of them are already available online for downloading - all the way back to the beginning.
Tennant was the better Doctor, but Eccleston got much better storylines IMO. Personally I think the parts of Tennant and Bernard Cribbins are all that save a few recent episodes. Most of Tennants stories actually seem crap compared to the old doctors(pre-Eccleston), but maybe my memory of the show back then isn't so good.
A lot of older episodes are now "missing" episodes, particularly William Hartnell ones. But I think those were pre-VHS, and some of the later ones may have at best been very early VHS.
I believe there is still 108 missing episodes mostly from the first 3 doctors. You might want to look into it.
