Suicides surge under right wing govts: study

So it would seem that conservative governments are not particularly good for human stability and wellbeing. Or something like that. At any rate, the article:
Anyone? Anyone? I'll let the issues speak for themselves.

    thanx,

Thats damn interesting. Especially the comment "middle aged and over people most at risk", which appears to buck a trend.

    i'm still thinking about it.

I think the ultra-organised, bureaurcatic type state to which the conservative government belongs is inimcal to human nature. We need a bit of organisation and order, and a bit of freedom and chaos. That's us. You go too far either way, and it just doesn't sit right inside us. So far we've had no real governments which go too far in teh direction of chaos and freedom - that's kind of the opposite to the idea of government, so it won't happen. But governments can go the other way, too far toward regimentation and order, which is too far from the way we like it. So more people are more ill-at-ease with things in those periods in which our society is too far to any extreme.

Thats what i would have said too Adam, until i read the age bit.

what you're describing i would think would hit the young harder... unless of course its just that they're more resilient. and have social circles which elders dont... hmm, yeah, im talking myself out of disagreeing with you here.
