Beatles conspiracy lovers will note that McCartney, long-dead by the time this album was released, is barefooted and out of step with the others. http://www.geocities.com/sunsetstrip/3674/pidabbey.html http://www.stevesbeatles.com/cds/album-covers/abbey_road.jpg From right to left: John represents a preacher. The picture's from somewhere in the NW of scotland. The A835 maybe.. I can't remember exactly. And of course I'd stopped the car. The motion blur is um.. edited. That's it! Band and album name are made up. http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/9890/distgenitalsrq4.jpg Damn the 3 image limit! Different people have different criteria though, and that's ok. For me, what makes a great album cover is not something that is clever or makes a statement or reflects the music. For me it's simply about beauty. And so, here are a few of my favorites: http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0000026DJ.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg http://www.connollyco.com/discography/rush/grace_hi.jpg http://www.metallibrary.ru/bands/discographies/images/green_carnation/pictures/01_light_of_day_day_of_darkness.jpg Tyler N. 05-17-07, 04:36 PM Probably not the best, I didn't really search my collection extensively, but here are 3 I love. http://www.metallibrary.ru/bands/discographies/images/emperor/pictures/94_in_the_nightside_eclipse.jpg http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/ciu/6f/ff/8196224b9da00c6094c6c010.L.jpg http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000001Y5Z.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg BenTheMan 05-17-07, 10:26 PM Zepplin bitches. Seem to remember hearing or reading somewhere that they're Plant's children - yes, rock'n'roll trivia fans? No? redarmy11 05-17-07, 10:41 PM Time to pay more homage to the majesty that was The Clash and their rather talented, nameless sleeve designer. Who cares if most of these are singles, not albums? The Devil Inside 05-19-07, 07:12 AM I'm ready to cook my own leg, if that would help to see them on Sziget in August. have you ever seen them? its in insanely good show. smoke a big fat one right before they start :p Plazma Inferno! 05-19-07, 07:24 AM have you ever seen them? its in insanely good show. smoke a big fat one right before they start :p No. I have DVD with 1998-2001 concerts. I got it from my friend, who is also a huge fan. We even 'tried' to make a band and we mostly played Tool. But, I sing like a goat, so we never left the practice room. Even our friendship was on the brink because of my singing. :D Tool are just amazing. I hope I'll have a chance to see their performance. one_raven 05-19-07, 07:26 AM I've seen them, and it's about as intense a show as I have ever been to (I DO love their music, though). I saw A Perfect Circle too. I am not a big fan of theirs, but there were unbelievable live - gave me a new level of appreciation for them. About the only live show that can compare to TOOL is Primus - but it's an entirely different beast. Before I got the chance to see TOOL live, there was a three day festival in the desert (somewhere in Arizona, maybe?). The headliners were TOOL and Rage Against the Machine. I didn't find out about it until it was too late to get tickets, get the days off work and get out there. If I got tickets, I was ready to quit my job if I had to. Plazma Inferno! 05-19-07, 07:33 AM Primus you say? http://www.galeon.com/allmusic/caratulas/p/Primus_-_Pork_Soda_-_front.jpg I totally forgot their cover for "Pork Soda" album. They're also great. Insanity, energy,... Just great. * Preparing second leg * The Devil Inside 05-19-07, 08:27 AM primus wrote a song about my hometown :) "kalamazoo"....its on the brown album, i think. That pussy isn't going to break a fender jazz when it weighs more than he does. redarmy11 05-02-08, 07:10 AM Well, the one you refer to is a classic. Don't take my word for it though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Calling#Artwork The album's cover features a photograph of Simonon smashing his Fender Precision Bass against the stage at The Palladium in New York City on September 21, 1979 during the "Clash Take the Fifth" US tour.[10][11] Pennie Smith, who photographed the band for the album, originally did not want the photograph to be used. She thought that it was too out of focus, but Strummer and graphic designer Ray Lowry thought it would make a good album cover.[11] In 2002, Smith's photograph was named the best rock and roll photograph of all time by Q magazine, commenting that "it captures the ultimate rock'n'roll moment - total loss of control".[12] The cover artwork was designed by Lowry and was a parody of the design of Elvis Presley's debut album.[13][14] The cover was named the ninth best album cover of all time by Q magazine in 2001.[15] Here's the inspiration for it: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/51/Elvispresleydebutalbum.jpeg Compare and contrast. http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00004BZ0N.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg The other Clash covers? However, there was some concern because Elden's penis was visible in the image. Geffen prepared an alternate cover without the penis, as they were afraid that it would offend people, but relented when Cobain made it clear that the only compromise he would accept was a sticker covering the penis that would say "If you're offended by this, you must be a closet pedophile."[52] The alternate cover image is featured in Michael Azerrad's Nirvana biography Come as You Are: The Story of Nirvana. The band shot some promotional images to accompany the album playing upon the cover's theme, featuring them swimming underwater. The imagery was revisited in the video for "Come as You Are." In 1992, Weird Al Yankovic mimicked the cover for his album Off the Deep End. That version features Yankovic swimming toward a donut instead of a dollar... http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/c6/Weird_Al_Yankovic_-_Off_the_Deep_End.jpg The back cover of the album features a photograph of a rubber monkey in front of a collage created by Cobain. The collage features images of raw beef from a supermarket advert, images from Dante's Inferno, and shots of diseased vaginas from Cobain's collection of medical photos. Cobain noted, "If you look real close, there is a picture of Kiss in the back standing on a slab of beef." redarmy11 05-02-08, 08:02 AM http://static.grupthink.com/answer/9/9d4432274455bb51b4c07d40992c8e4b http://www.grupthink.com/topic/210 GeoffP 05-02-08, 08:05 AM I have to say that I disbelieve in some of the first ones.
