Has anyone heard of this book ?, I cannot for the life of me, understand why our english department has to pick the crappiest texts.
Has anyone read the Justice game either?..

Anywho, I think it's an egotistical book, that while worthwhile to read (when I have time), should not be forced upon high schoolers, who run the risk of anti semitism due to the constant reminder of the "horror", and the cliche of "unimaginable suffering". and the whole story of survival. Personally, It's being forced down our throats. Same with Shakespeare, and Frankenstein. You can like those texts after reading them twice, at a later age.

Shit happened. Jews got killed. It was horrendous. WE GET IT! We all saw the picture from Auschwitz, I've been to the jewish holocaust museum, seen the shoes. But now , I have to read a "personal" interpetation, (read: self centered), in a non linear (read: Fragmentary and nonsensical), format.

So, now we have to deconstruct a text, that is repeating the same message in a different format.
Sure, It's not dry history, but neither is it a gripping, edge of your seat read. Unlike Waltz with bashir, this book does not interest me.

Is it just me, or does anyone think that the holocaust is become over emphasised to the point where it's cliched and frankly boring?

    Damn English department..
I wasn't looking for help on this one, but rather asking, can a book have bad textual integrity and still be popular ?

    bad textual integrity?

    do you mean... badly written?

    Being an active musician....

I think a lot of things can be popular and suck. us humans have very different ideas on whats good and bad regardless of the actual quality of the work itself. What we like also has a lot to do with hype and what other people think.

I don't see why it should be any different with literature.
