I just started doing a search for an app. that will take various documents, web pages, word, RTF, etc. and read them out loud. I understand that natural voice and not Microsoft voices within my XP Pro is the way to go?

I notice that some have an option to save the voice to wav or mp3 file. I can convert wav to mp3 readily so that is not really a deciding factor though it would be nice to be able to get direct mp3 or ogg. I have a decent mp3 player.

Free or at least cheap would be nice.

    Any one have any reccommendations?

I have used TextAloud every once in a while. It's okay, not amazing. Reminds me of something that they once had on the old Acorn computers.

This link is maybe the best computer voice I've heard. It's one of those AT&T Natural Voices for TextAloud, and it's definately better than the Microsoft version.

    Wow
