Mohammed Taheri-Azar's letter to police

This is a transcript of the letter Mohammed Taheri-Azar left in his apartment for police to find after he drove into nine people with an SUV in The Pit at UNC on March 3:

In the name of Allah, the merciful, the compassionate.

To whom it may concern:

I am writing this letter to inform you of my reasons for premeditating and attempting to murder citizens and residents of the United States of America on Friday, March 3, 2006 in the city of Chapel Hill, North Carolina by running them over with my automobile and stabbing them with a knife if the opportunities are presented to me by Allah.

I did intend to use a handgun to murder the citizens and residents of Chapel Hill, North Carolina but the process of receiving a permit for a handgun in this city is highly restricted and out of my reach at the present, most likely due to my foreign nationality.

I am a servant of Allah. I am 22 years of age and I was born in Tehran, Iran. My father, mother and older sister immigrated to the United States in 1985 when I was two years of age and I've lived in the United States ever since.

I attended elementary, middle and high school in North Carolina and I was accepted into the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I began my college career in August 2001 and graduated in December 2005 with a bachelor's degree in psychology and philosophy with Allah's help.

I do not wish to pursue my career as a student any further because I have no desire to amass the impermanent and temporary fame and material wealth this world has to offer. However I made the decision to continue my studies and to graduate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill so that the world will know that Allah's servants are very intelligent.

Due to the killing of believing men and women under the direction of the United States government, I have decided to take advantage of my presence on United States soil on Friday, March 3, 2006 to take the lives of as many Americans and American sympathizers as I can in order to punish the United States for their immoral actions around the world.

In the Qur'an, Allah states that the believing men and women have permission to murder anyone responsible for the killing of other believing men and women. I know that the Qur'an is a legitimate and authoritative holy scripture since it is completely validated by modern science [LOL! - Geoff.] and also mathematically encoded with the number 19 beyond human ability. After extensive contemplation and reflection, I have made the decision to exercise the right of violent retaliation that Allah has given me to the fullest extent to which I am capable at present.

I have chosen the particular location on the University campus as my target since I know there is a high likelihood that I will kill several people before being killed myself or jailed and sent to prison if Allah wills. Allah's commandments are never to be questioned and all of Allah's commandments must be obeyed. Those who violate Allah's commandments and purposefully follow human fabrication and falsehood as their religion will burn in fire for eternity in accordance with Allah's will.

I was not aware of this attack geoff, now theres a first.

It may sound stupid & against my character regarding muslims, but i could not help feeling sorry for this guy a bit, may be its because the letter is wrote in a immature way, he is a kid after all 22, in my view at that age you mind is still very immature.

But the thing that struck me was how brain washed he was, after living in america all his life, somehow some mosque filled his mind full of hate, to the point he was a wind up robot ready to be despatched, wherever his masters sent him.

I really can not understand the power of this religon has over there minds, i have watched cults, i am aware everbody moving as one in unison to prayers & music & this also takes place in mosques, aswell as the the pecking like a hen motion that they all do in mosques.

There are literally hundreds of thousands of would be wind up robotic muslims, ready to be a suicide bomber in the world today, that in its self should be setting off alarm bells to governments that this religon, has to much control over the human mind.

This is a first for me, his letter just made me sorry for him & angry at the bastards who brainwashed him, young muslims need to get a life outside of islam.

I am not aware of this story so i dont know if he died or he killed others, there is no mention in the story.

If he actually killed anyone of course i am sorry for them more, but i am still sorry for this young kid, i hate to see young minds manipulated by mature bastards.

I'm attempting to point out that the lunacy of islamofascists is not in any way limited to the poor or downtrodden, and that the islamic response to the cartoons has included violence in the US as well as abroad. This guy had a degree and a future, and threw it away because of his religion.

WRT the Quranic science stuff, there are many muslims who claim that the Quran has great scientific relevatory power, as if it contained knowledge that Mohammed could not possibly have known. Frankly, since among these amazing predictions is sometimes listed "fire burns wood", I'm understandably a little dubious of the business; moreover, I'm suspicious of a perspective that damns science except when someone thinks it supports a religious text.

I for the life of me can never understand how one claims a belief in GOD and a "disbelief" in science. The complexity of the creation of all things requires a knowledge that man will never attain. To think that the Creator has no understanding of science [for it is from the Creator that science originates] is to not understand the Creator.

At one point in my life, I defined science as mans attempt to explain away the Creator. I know look at is as a way for man to realize that the Creator is.

I think its like appro. 50% of men and 70% of women study psychology purely for self examination. Obviouly even psychologists realize there is a disproportion of nutters around them and subsequently conducted this study.

I have known many rape victims that are psychologists or majored in psychology. Also, the medical school sometimes encourages "hacks" (people you do not want near a knife) to go into psychiatry.

None of these would be possible without GOD.

GOD does everything. All things. Nothing would be without Him. He is the ONE TRUE REALITY. Everything else is just a dream.

No wisdom or knowledge can be without HIM.

 

Why not? I can do all those things while invoking simple, naturalistic explanations for each of them. Why do we require a god to do these things for us?
