    I'm bleaching my teeth.

It hurts like hell. It's bad enough that it costs hundreds of dollars but after just the first session, I feel like ice cubes are pressing against my bicuspids.

Two more days. Two more days.

    Never heard of it.

Is it available in the States?

Note: there are a few brands with baking soda here.

Edit: Yeah. I've heard of Dr's Foster & Smith. My parents get the magazine. . . FOR THE DOG!

I'm actually wanting to get that done eventually.
What part hurts? The chemicals or the tooth tray?

I use an occlusal guard at night right now, so I'm used to trays. If there is a chemical pain, then I'm not going to do it.

The chemicals. It doesn't hurt at all in the "process" of bleaching, but afterward my teeth are ultra sensitive for about a day after.

    All done now, though.

My whites are extra pearly white now. The teeth are back to normal. Worth every penny.

Overly white teeth look like false teeth. You don't want your pearly white teeth to be 'extra' pearly...rather just the shade of healthy teeth.

i think folks whiten their teeth a bit and everyone says: "gee, your teeth look nice" ...and then they think that their teeth will look better even whiter...nope...just looks phoney.

Mine aren't blindingly white. I hate that too. My boss has the most insanely white teeth I've ever seen. Mine are completely natural looking. . . just natural for a 10 year old not a 35 year old.

Use charcoal as well as sodium bicarbonate.

Is it really expensive? I've always wanted to do it, my teeth were stained before they even erupted from my gums most likely caused by genetics, chemicals, or even a fever that I had as a small child, so regular teeth whitening products don't work on me. But most importantly are the results what you were expecting?

Um. There are no "before" shots anymore. I deleted them.

    • Eyes are supposed to be myopic.
    • Cavities rot teeth.
    • People shouldn't fly or drive in metal cars with exploding gas fumes as a propelant.
    • Hair turns grey. It also grows long, especially on most males' faces and female's arm pits.
    • People get fat.
    • Kids die of numerous virulent diseases.
    • The elderly die of other diseases.

And so on and so on.

This doesn't mean have to accept these facts lying down. We can, and in some cases, are ethically inclined to fight nature. Some are for vanity. Some are for health. But in each case, technology and science have given us to tools to change what we are and who we are, including yellow teeth. No thanks. I never had braces as a kid (really didn't need them, thankfully), but with age my teeth are opaquing and turning off white. My dentist has a remedy and I'm inclined to use it.

I had my teeth bleached around 3 years ago..

You're right about the pain, it does burn quite a bit. And it's far from cheap.

I don't know if you're a coffee drinker or not, but if you are, look forward to more bleaching in the future. I'm about to get a "booster shot" soon, due to the coffee. I should probably just give up the coffee. ( fat chance )

Hey String, instead of bleaching your teeth, you could just have a very deep tan.
