do they really transform? it's a question that's been really bugging me.. if a mad engineer with infinite technology and cash comes up to paramount and asks for the blueprints of the transformers so he can actually make them, will they be able to give him anything? are the vehicle and the transformer really one thing? or do they just show the car then jibber and twitch and make a lot of things come out and in and twist around then voala! robotic bruce lee\willis is here? the transformation sure looked real, but when i downloaded a couple of wallpapers i noticed in a picture Bumblebee had a cannon for an arm, in another pic he had a normal arm with no possible place for his cannon to be hidden, so it got me wondering.. anyone know anything?
It's called CG... And yes, they do transform, in that sense, but I'm not sure about the molecular structure, because apparently it allows them to shape differently.
Yes CG is your friend when making a movie about Giant transfroming Robots that run a rampage through the Heart of a city. However you could possible make something like it from the CG frames. As they were supposed to be accurate and not have a mass issue like the cartoon did. So there were not 40 story robots transforming into say a Tooth pick.

i KNOW it's CG.. is the CG based on real mechanical design of a transformer having the same components as a car or not?
Yes it is they eliminated the Mass issues the cartoon so obviously had. They used real science to make the CG Frames. However that dose not mean that you could build say a Bumblebee Camaro it all the actuators and hydraulic pumps required the size would far exceed the size of the car its self. And there would not likely be any room for an operator.
yeah i have a suitcase full of those..trains, construction trucks, animals, you name it.. are the movie edition transformers the same? with all million and one swiveling parts? forget operator or even it's operation.. size and components, do they really fold and unfold from car to transformer or is it a CG magic trick? is it possible to give me references?
I had Hightower as a kid. It kinda sucked and I thought it was yellow until someone pointed out to me that it was not..
