What would you say the minimum system requirements for the following games would be:
Doom III
Morrowind
Unreal II
With minimum, I mean playable. 16bit, low sound quality, 800*600.
Don't trust the box! :)

I would have to say my computer:
433 celeron
256 mb SDRAM
32 mb RADEON
tee hee hee...
I especially would like comments about the graphic requirements. I have a geforce 2 gts, which has 32 mb of ram. Whrn using texture compression, will it be enough?
Pollux, for Unreal II they're talking about 450 mhz. I hope they're overrating it.

Oh god, for Morrowind.
I'd recommend 133 on the FSB and memory (100 won't do it).
800 on a Pentium 3 or Thunderbird, 1.1GHz or a Celeron or Duron.
256 RAM (512 for a heavy OS like Windows 2000 or XP)
7200 RPM harddrive
And a GF Ti 4200 (they are actually less expensive in many cases than the original GF 3's, and the Ti 500's)
I have a 266A, 1800+, 512MB PC 2100, 7200 RPM ATA-100 20GB, and a Leadtek GF 3 Ti 200 (128MB version with hardware monitoring).
I still get framerate cuts in large areas with alot of activity (and I have my mip-mapping detail level to high performance, V-sync off, no anti-aliasing, and in game pixel shading off - 1024x768)
You can get it, but expect to strip down the quality completely and run it at 640x480
Well, I have 533mhz frontside bus
256 mb rdram
intel p4 1.7 Ghz cpu
7200 rpm hd
Will the graphic card still hold me at 640*480 at low low detail?
What can compress textures do for performance? Does morrowind have the option?
Thanks!

It's been my experience that processor speed makes little or no difference, that's why all the comps in dell commercials are so cheap. They have 2ghz computers but only, like 64mb of RAM.
So the processor people can take their...processors and shove it.

Oh, I didn't realize the rest of your computer was that powerful.
I'm not aware of compressed textures.
You might be able to go 800x600. There are different options in Morrowind. Like AI distance, view distance, real time shadows, etc.... The good thing is it at least looks good at 800x600 on a 17" monitor (it looks terrible at 640x480). You should be able to do that, but you'll have to strip down everything else.
You can find a good 4200 for $150 to $200. Great deal.
Comr on people! What about Doom III and Unreal II requirements?
:) :)

They are both likely to be less than Morrowind (especially Unreal 2)
What makes you say that? Have you seen the Doom III movie? It looks like a system crusher.
On Unreal II I agree. I think they make it a point of honour to keep the sys reqs low.
