Is there currently a way to link a thread to a thread ? or a way to make a sub-thread?

As in a thread is posted and in the path of discussion another point closely related but removed enough to derail the thread happens { a lot } , or even two people want to argue a specific thought on the subject so they can start a sub-thread on there own via the thread tools.

Is this option already available? Would this be a good thing to have? Would it be hard to add?

Why not just quote the part you want to discuss in more depth and create a new thread? Or just send the user a PM?
