James apparently, sets his own rules. He deletes posts on bias, and he apparently does not like certain people. He is extremely inconsistant and negligent on what he decides to delete and not delete. He picks on specific people he feels make trouble. He holds different standards for different people, and only enforces his assumed power when he feels like it.

He's obviously power hungry, and likes controlling people more than he likes being a moderator. He's unfair, changes the rules to fit his whim, inconsistant, and has it out for specific posters.

I think he should be removed.

    P.S. It doesn't give me the option to create a poll. If a moderator can fix that so it's a two choice poll;

Yes, remove James R's as a Moderator
    No, he should stay

    Yes.

He applies rules only when he feels like it.

He deletes posts, even when no rule was broken.

He has it out for specific posters.

He is inconsistant and unfair in his moderation.

He should stay because he's probably one of the best moderators on this forum. I've never once found him to be unfair or biased. In fact, most would probably agree that James is known for giving a lot of leeway in threads and arguments thereby allowing the thread to develop. He only steps in when members become insulting or have broken the forum rules. In that he is always consistent and always fair and he applies the rules to everyone equally. I've never once known him to be anything but.

    Therefore I'd vote NO!

a moderator is supposed to use his judgment.

    You mean you?

    Unfair to you?

No. Not to me. To Gendanken, Hathor, and many many others.

I think as this thread goes on, you will see how many people will contribute stories of the same problem.

Using judgement is good, but being inconsistant in your judgement, and unfairly judging certain posters is not good.

So Bells, you think it's okay for him to let Xev tell people to "eat a cock". But then delete someone else's post, calling people in general "pathetic little louts".

You can't just apply the rules when you damn well feel like it, you have to at least be consistant. He is not. There are plenty of examples.

Was this in the religious forum or in the physics and maths forum?

You really have it in for him don't you? You don't even seem to know who deleted your post, yet you assume it was James because he gave an explanation as to why it was deleted? Are you 100% sure it was even he who deleted it? Any one person who saw your post prior to its deletion could have given you the same explanation.

I've never once seen him be anything but consistant and fair when he moderates in the forums where he moderates.

How do you know? Have they told you this personally? Or are you just making an assumption based on your already biased views?

I don't have it "in" for him, I just want people to be treated fairly. This isn't about me, this is about several complaints about James R, for several different areas.

Since you asked, the post of mine he deleted was in this forum, not the ones he's supposed to be moderating. He was the one who stated that he hadn't noticed it before and that I broke some rule. He was the only moderator who responded to that. But again, it's not about that particular incident. There have been several complaints about him, and that's what I am trying to rectify.

I am not a biased person, but I do read the forums and have seen the complaints. Apparently, you skipped over those posts and are assuming that this is about me. =)

I suppose it doesn't matter, as in the other threads things have been removed. Moderators here protect each other and always have, and they delete without a word or explanation. So no one really knows the real truth, and no one will ever have to face up to their indiscretions. All so painfully fruitless.

So this is all just a waste of my time. *shrug*

I must just be paranoid like the other 20 or so people that have complained.

Obviously he "has it in" for some posters because they are deliberate troublemakers, you can't read everyone's post without any preconceptions. If someone has a tendency to flame, a moderator is more likely to come down harder. Or so I assume. Not that I am saying you're a troublemaker.

Anyway, yeah, I think James R's moderating is cool, and besides, on a forum like this, you can't please everybody.

What is sad is that you make accusations but provide no support for your claim.

I'm fairly new here, but from what I've seen, he's a good moderator. From what I've seen, he is very patient and even tempered.

But, surely you remember the content of a post deleted in general terms?

I am not an active poster here, but I do lurk around a lot and from what I've seen James moderates repectfully, usually taking the time to explain why a specific line or an entire post was deleted.

In the Physics & Maths forum there was a time when the opinion was prevalent that he was even too lenient.

Is this about a one-liner that got deleted somewhere five days after the fact?
