View Full Version : Strange star moving N'Sync
I figured I would find an answer here. Recently, my friends and I were laying out on a trampoline relaxing and gazing upon the stars when we suddenly noticed something incredible. My friend abruptly stopped a conversation that was going on, to point at the sky and cry out about the bright lights moving. All of us, quickly looked up and watched in amazment as we saw 3 small bright lights, thousands of miles away, shooting across the sky at a moderate pace clearing our view of space in about a minute or so. This was something extraordinary. The bright lights were formed at precise points for a perfect triangle. These lights were moving in perfect sync. Once the lights faded away, a few friends pointed in amazment and mapped out the path the stars had just taken...this differed from where a buddy and I saw the anomaly. Where we had witnessed the lights-the others saw them moving in the opposite direction almost running from eachother. There were 2 groupings. It was truley a specticle to watch. Please enlighten me on this subject if you have any insight on it.
Thanks a lot-
All planes have lights that show other planes thier location, so they don't run into each other. Many military aircraft, all supersonic aircraft, have delta wings. The lights are generally put at the nds of the wings, at eh front and the back end, and one on the rudder. An aircraft flying fast enough would cross your field of vision in about that time. This might not be true, it depends on your location and the colors of the lights, and the positions of the colors.
eburacum45 07-12-03, 02:27 PM Some, if not all, of the sightings of flying triangles can be explained by a triad of bright satellites called a NOSS Triad;

so keep these objects in mind when attempting an identification...

hey gifted,
I'm sorry I didn't specify enough...the 3 lights that formed the shape of a triangle without lines were very far apart-they all couldn't of been attached together. I'd say they were mabye 1/3 the size of each star on orion's belt distance apart from eachother. thanks you
hey eburacum45,
I checked out the article...that helkps a lot. I think that's it. Thanks buddy.
distance from something can affect the percieved dimensions, but yes, I believe the link to be a good explanation.
McTimson 07-12-03, 06:08 PM <-- I was one of the ones watching with Dwalk
Yea, that NOSS thing definitely seems to explain it.
Clearly, these are government satellites spying on our every day lives!! Or...they're just random surveillance things...but still, you never know ;)
Hey, do you guys think it would be possible to see these things during the day time? Because about 8 years ago, I thought I saw the exact same thing, except it was during my recess at school. There were 3 objects flying by, like this one, in triangle formation. Of course, I was only like 8 years old, so I could have just been making the whole thing up, but I'm pretty damn sure I saw it...
hey tim,
I was readign up on the NOSS program further thanks to the link given to me by the nice guy. You can see them in the day tim and these satelites were launched awhile before you saw them so you could of easily seen them... A follow up question for everyone...Are these sightings rarer than I believe? Who else has seen these?
I believe the International Space Station can be seen
A constant moving spot on the sky, it travels thru all the sky pretty fast, I think I saw that One Summer night
But on that same summer in another day two cousins next to me saw a little spotlight in the sky making twists and turns... and then accelerated until it was out of view..
Now that was Not a sattelite nor airplane or meteor :P
Anyway, those moving lights in the starsky background are very common but cant be explained yet.
That's cool man. It would be pretty spectacular to see the space station from earth. One of the many things that made these lights (newly learned that these are satelites thanks to eburacum), so special was that the were quite far apart from eachother yet, closer than the distance between each star on orion's belt.
Tim's Site for random babbling...
