I'm having a strange problem with my computer's audio output. For some reason different components of the same audio files will come in at different volumes. Usually the background music comes in at one volume, while voices come in at another volume. The end effect is that is you turn the volume up high enough to hear voices, the music will be too loud, or vice versa. The problem occurs across a many different applications, including WinAmp, Quicktime, and Windows Media Player. Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this? Is there some sort of setting that I could adjust to get things back in balance? I have no idea what could have caused it, since I haven't messed with the audio settings in any way.

I would have guessed that it was the audio settings. It sounds like one channel (voices/singing?) is set too low, or the others are too high. Something like that. I have a similar problem. My windows 'problem' sound (a lion roaring) can be heard repetitively in the background when I play music. It sounds very much like this anyway, but everything still works so I leave it.

    Hmm sounds odd,
have you checked your sound volumes in your control panel sometimes for me that can be the problem. Something like the mic could be pumped up and your line in could be low so check that out also check the sounds inside the program, which I'm guessing you already would have but if you haven't it could be the problem because it's likely if its been adjusted within one program it would have affected other programs of the same functions. Hope that helps!

Voice suppression on, perhaps? I had this problem, it sounded like the vocals were far away and under water.
