Dear Lois and Cary, I'm pretty sure that there are several people in this country who are both Muslim AND American. I KNOW! Weird, huh? Nothing like affirming what Islamic extremists say about America. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! :m: Peace.
See also "Religion" There is companion topic in the Religion forum: click here So far all I can come up with is that this is exactly why religion and government should be separate. In the meantime, what else can we expect? Atheists shouldn't be citizens (Poppy), Wiccans should be excluded from faith-based initiatives (Dubya), and now two Republicans walk out on the pre-session prayer; ironic is the fact that it is generally Republicans who support the inclusion of prayers in the session. I guess it's just not good enough unless it's their choice of religion. McMahon, however, is a characterization of hateful bigotry. She ought to consider her words carefully and then do the right thing and resign. I cannot add to that, as it transgresses the bounds of decency and respect for humanity. :m:, Tiassa Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Trent Lott had to step down as majority leader due to his implied segregationism. These two were being openly racist(we need a new word to describe anti-muslim sentiment...Islamophobic?)
Communique to Rep. McMahon The following communique was dispatched by Tiassa to the office of Representative Lois McMahon. If you wish to offer Rep. McMahon advice or commentary, her email is available at this page. Note: if you choose to send your comments to Rep McMahon, the system does require certain personal information--your address, primarily--that would otherwise be expected on snail mail. Rep. Condotta can be reached here. I reiterate a point I made in the Religion Forum topic: Condotta at least gave what I call a "fair" excuse. Cheap, vague, but not suicidal. I have chosen to not send a similar note to his office on such grounds. :m:, Tiassa Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
