View Full Version : Star Trek Movies
Starduster3 11-17-06, 10:42 AM Does anyone out there think that there will be any more Star Trek movies produced? I am hoping so. What I would like to see is one of these movie companies come out with a Star Trek movie using the original Enterprise and maybe some different actors as the original crew and maybe make another complete series of movies. I know that nothing would ever replace the original, but with todays tecnology, just think about the special affects they could do. Has anyone seen the new remastered Star Trek tv series? They did a real nice job with it. All of the pictures with the ships and the planets are excellent. :D :D :D
Prince_James 11-17-06, 10:55 AM There is a new one coming out next year or in '08.
I haven't heard any news of a new series yet, though. If they do, I hope it is in the vein of DS9. That was some great SciFi there.

there are rumors of one being released in 2007.

the next generation and voyager are my favorits.
i have the complete original series and it really sucks compared to the next generation.
the movies with the original crew were relatively good.
Starduster3 11-17-06, 12:45 PM I liked all of the series, Star Trek, Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Enterprise, but they are not producing anymore, except for Enterprise and I was thinking it would be nice if they could get the producers from the Star Trek series's and Speilburg together and produce a really exceptional sci-fi series or movie. I wonder if any of these people have thought of doing this and if so, why haven't they done anything with it. I mean as far as Star Wars goes, I thought that the first 3 were done a lot better than the last 3. It seemed to me that they were trying too hard or something. They seemed overdone or maybe it was that Speilburg was burned out on the whole thing. I wonder if those movies would have turned out better if he had done them in the order that they were written? You know, instead of 4,5,6,1,2,3, they had done them 1,2,3,4,5,6.

The final three would never have been made if the crappy ones had come first.
oh I jus love Star Trek. Of course itll never be the same like the old series...

thank god.
thank god.
oh don say that. :( .
leopold99 11-19-06, 04:41 AM i don't know draqon, the original series isn't near as good as the next generation.
i have the entire set of both and the next generation is definitely better. better acting, production, better effects.
Enterprise-D 12-20-06, 09:15 AM I figure the next movie has to be something huge...like an all out Borg fleet invasion...or a mirror universe incursion.
I'm sure there will be something. What and when...? Who knows?
None of the series really seem to be active enough for a movie. Well, there's Enterprise, but it was a stinko.
riku_124 01-01-07, 06:50 PM my 2 favrite movies are
First Contact
and the one about the people who live for a long time
Enterprise-D 01-02-07, 08:10 AM Insurrection.
There's good potential for an epic battle for ST.
- The Romulans never truly attempted to subjugate the Federation
- A true Borg invasion
- Species 8472 (although what might provoke them now I can't write myself)
- Mirror universe invasion...they're not shy about traversing the barriers
Other interesting factors to slip in (not all in one movie tho...)
- The return of Data (as CGI most likely)
- Admiral Janeway in command
- Q has yet to appear in a movie
- Potential captains: Riker, Worf, Chakotay, Seven
- Traveller Wesley
Nikelodeon 01-02-07, 08:30 AM The return of Beagle 2 in a giant cloud of energy. We learn where it really went.
Prince_James 01-02-07, 10:33 AM Enterprise-D:
The Borg is dead.
And returning Data would be ridiculous. As would a captain status for Riker (who is an inept commander), Worf (who is more Klingon than FEd), Chakotay (who is a terrorist supporter), and Seven (who is a Borg technical agent).
Admiral Janeway is terrible...
Frankly, I'd like to see the Cardassians come into power. Now -they- are a species I can appreciate.
I yust hope that Yeri Ryan will be in it.
Enterprise-D 01-03-07, 10:47 AM Sisko and his alliance crushed the Cardassians/Dominion in DS9. Gul Dukat is a overrated shyster, Legate Damar was somewhat impotent. Garak was the only Cardassian who seemed to have admirable traits. Since I brought up Garak, maybe a good movie might be an exploration into darker Trek like Section31/Tal Shair/Obsidian Order.
The Borg can't die. They are the penultimate Trek cyborg multipliers. Quite similar to Stargate's Replicators. As a storyline maybe the Borg are kinda overused, I'll grant that. However we've not seen a REAL Borg armada. Guinan has described their power many times. Even Q was leery of provoking the Borg in Voyager (obviously by Janeway's time he grew up).
Paramount left "Data memories" in B4 obviously to return Data in some form if need be. Think about an intelligent starship for example. That won't be the massive failure that the HAL9000 intelligence was.
Riker is not as good as Picard, but is still admirable. He was able to achieve his goals against the Cube in Wolf 359 thinking on his feet (yes Crusher, Data and Troi had to pull Picard out of the collective for the Cube's destruction...however, it was Riker's insight that caused Picard to be rescued when Admiral Hanson left Picard for dead).
Worf has commanded the Defiant in DS9 on multiple ocassions. Unfortunately, Sisko has already stated that Worf most likely won't get ship command because he couldn't sacrifice Jadzia for a Starfleet mission. However, other than this Worf commands a ship with great alacrity, and I won't mind a chance to see him command a starship...even a Klingon Negh'Var...in a movie setting.
Chakotay WAS in the Maquis because he felt betrayed by the Federation and overrun by the Cardassians. However he commanded Voyager on several ocassions, and even bested Janeway at least once (see the episode Scorpion with species 8472 where Chakotay was obviously the one in control of the situation).
Seven would eventually make a great captain of a Vulcan ship. While having been borged herself, Voyager's crew succeeded in humanizing her. She has since shown unrelenting and unquestioned loyalty to Janeway and her Federation ideals. She however lacks emotional warmth, and excels in efficiency and accuracy, traits that would appeal to a Vulcan ship's crew.
Cardassians indeed...
Prince_James 01-03-07, 11:07 AM Enterprise-D:
The Borg was decimated by Janeway. It seems to have been a Collective-wide annihilation. Moreover, the Borg super powerful? I don't think so...Considering they have had thousands of years and haven't even dominated a single quadrant of the galaxy.
In regards to Worf: Ultimately, I think he'd make a better full Klingon character. He wants to go back to his roots and he really needs to help the Klingons consider how they want to progress.
Seven: She'd do good on a Vulcan ship, yes. But I don't see her as a leader. She is a follower, ultimately. She needs a hand to wield her.
But come on. The Cardassians are the only really -human- aliens in Star Trek. They have goodness, badness, and will. Klingons may be obsessed with honour, Vulcans with logic, Ferengi with money, and humans...on human rights, but Cardassians actually are -realistic-.
Plus, DS9 was the best Star Trek besides TOS.
Enterprise-D 01-03-07, 12:28 PM The single Borg transwarp nexus was decimated by Janeway, as well as a Queen. That's all. The Borg assimilated the virus long before it could be transmitted to further installations. Like their homeworld. And since Picard and Data killed a Queen first, it is obvious that they have a great backup system. And just look at the episode with Q in Voyager. Q was quite concerned about the Q-youngster provoking the Borg ("how many times must I tell you? DON'T PROVOKE the BORG"). We can infer some respect of the Borg power if Q was so adamant that they not be interfered with.
True...Worf would make a better full Klingon.
Seven can easily become a leader. The only thing that'll stop her from doing so is if she's not guided to develop ambition. A Seven character exploration however may be good as a sideline movie story.
Cardassians were still slammed by the Feds/Roms/Klingons. And while by and large Starfleet is a bit acquiescent, Terrans on Trek have shown the ability to be ruthless...remember Director Sloan and Section 31. Or Sisko's acceptance of the lie that got the Romulans into the war (I LOVED that episode).
And btw, the spoonheads were obsessed with power. Especially Gul Dukat. That's what makes them so close to current human culture. Is that what you connect with ;) ?
Oh, DS9 is indeed quite great :) However, TNG had the most effect on me since i grew up with it.
