I've always wondered this and none of my teacher's ever gave me an answer...

Is there a way to work out a square root (or a tri-root, quad-root, whatever) by an equation? All I've found is how to simplify a route down so that you can mentally figure it out.

Thanks in advance. :)

I do believe that he means square root.

As how to calculate them, try here:

Yeah, oops, Square Root. :p

Ooh that equation is cool...but a lil difficult. :bugeye:

Thanks, my teacher always told me there was no way to do it...

Sorry, I forget that some people pronounce route the French way instead of rhyming with out, and that some people pronounce root to rhyme with boot instead of foot. Apparently some people do both. :)

That is the formula I learned for square roots many decades ago. It's not a whole lot more difficult than long division.
