Not just legalizing it for medical purposes, but ones that are willing to stand up and say "we smoke pot, and we like it a lot" on the floor of congress if necessary. They are there to represent ME, and that's the kind if thing I would say if I were on C-SPAN.

I'm sorry, but I can no longer stand up for the SPINELESS Dem party, who were pro-marijuana before the DLC triangulation third way came along, who have no differences between the Republicans on this now. Who is there to vote for when the two parties are the same?

    NOTE: This post is sarcastic.

I dont see what the big deal about smoking marijunana is...I never have and probably never will(Im not sure yet :m: ). It has many medical uses, can be used to make paper(would stop tree cutting), used to make rope, clothing. I dont see why its that bad if it becomes legal, what negative effects would it have?

Well, think of it this way ...we all seem to complain horribly about having to breathe the smoke and pollutants in the air and we cry and whine about not having clean fresh air .........yet some advocate sucking mj smoke purposely down into their lungs and rejoice about it.

Does that make any sense to you?

The problem with marijuana is that it has medical uses in its natural form. Since it's natural, it means it cannot be considered a drug. Only when something is classified as a drug, can it be used. But marijuana is so common and grown in people's homes and other areas that the drug companies cannot hoard it to themselves to make a profit so they decide to make it illegal. Gotta love the screwy rules of the FDA.

Hemp has MANY valuable uses which doesn't include "getting high" or "medicinal purposes". It was very common back in the days for people to have tons of crops of that stuff because it was the most beneficial and versatile of all crops. Nowadays, that's a bad thing especially when something as useful such as that is "common". Common means lack of control which again means lack of profit and that's bad in a capitalistic society such as ours.

If you do some research into this you will find marijuana was the victim of a smear campaign by the logging/papermill industry. See "reefer madness".

Oh, I know. It's why I said what I said. If something is outlawed, usually rather than for moral issues due to something being harmful, most of the time it's due to big business.

True enough. It was the trans-oceanic trading companies that gave us starting capital. The railroads tycoons opened up the west for us.The steel magnates gave us the foundation of heavy industrialization. Assorted high tech companies solidified our rule.

They always have been the wind in our sails, giving us enough strength to bootstrap ourselves up in the world one step at a time.
