hello,
a friend of mine is currently programming a MMORPG (is that thr right abbreviation) that plays in space (because not many animations are needed no complicated surroundings). I got the job of designing the models so I was wondering if anybody knew any good sites for inspiration, like pages about Eve online, Freespace, Freelancer, X and so on...

If you have any aspects or ideas that should be considerd for the game concept, please fell free to post them.

i have already googled arround but havn't found anything perticularly interresting. And like I said before I intend to use work I find as inspiration I don't have in mind copying anything. Anybody know any good TV series with lots of spaceships?

Babylon 5 had a nice variety.

I like one of the Destroyers:

develop some themes for your different factions/races, then build you ships from that.

For instance take the Minmartar from eve-online, there ships look like someone from the local scrapyard welded a few pieces of metal together, then somehow strapped a rocket engine on and called it a starship

That is arguably the most powerful 'hero' ship of B5, a culmination of Earth, Minbari and Vorlon tech (if memory serves)...It's main weapon is a combined discharge of energy pumped through the rear pylons and aimed through the nose of the vessel.

Try not to be inspired too closely ;)
