It was incredibly BORING! I usually don't watch the show but I wanted to know how it ends.

    Well....

I was dumbfounded. One of the first things I was taught in a creative writing class was that a dramatist cannot be afraid to make choices. Chase's ending, or non-ending really, seems to do just the opposite. He decided to do nothing, a pose I see the critics are already calling "brave", etc.

At the end of the show, everyone watching it with me, turned to each other and either sighed or moaned...

To us, Chase's attempt at a non-resolution, if it can be called that, was nothing more than the sort of juvenile creative rebellion one sees in teenagers with pens or paintbrushes in their hands...

I agree the ending was not great. It was okay though....Tony got killed off, I am 100% certain on this. The music stopped TOO SUDDENLY, and as Tony looks up, the screen fades to black....

    R.I.P Tony Soprano

The ending could have been better though.

    Apparently, so.

I've been reading up on the blogs and apparently the camera switch to Tony's POV each time they bell rang. The last time, when Meadow comes in, we see her through his eyes, then all is black. According to those who pour over the show's finer points, Bobby and he talked about getting shot earlier in the season, and Bobby said something about "not even knowing it happened" and everything going dark. This led me to recall some early lines in the show from Livia about it all being a big, dark "nothing." Still, I think the ending has a lot of problems.

If we're seeing Meadow through Tony's eyes, why didn't she react (or at least start to react) to someone shooting her father right before he got it?

Wasn't the song choice, "Don't Stop Believing," with the lyrics "it goes on and on," suggesting life?

Regardless, I still don't think this has gone down well with the viewers...

I don't think he got shot. The music suggested that nothing happens and life goes on. It was a huge letdown, but the whole part itself was boring. I was online the whole time....

I don't think it was boring. I thought there was a heck of a lot of tension in the last scene that was building toward something, then ... nothing happened. Or did it? I don't know. I'm still not sure I buy the whole metaphysical death, with nothing but blackness following ... if that's even what Chase really intended...

Oh, I agree. The majority of the rest of the show stunk. With the exception of Phil's death, which wasn't given all that much screen time, and Tony's scene with Junior, there was little value in the show. In fact, it actually wasted most of its time starting and concluding another plot line with A.J., a character nobody cares about...

It felt like an episode from the middle of a season, not a finale...
