It will encompass a wide array of areas so it's best to answer honestly. otheadp 12-13-06, 03:28 PM if you use the analogy of a human body, soldiers are the following: - white blood cells fighting infections - fists to defend yourself or your friends/family .... other.. sderenzi 12-13-06, 03:32 PM Soliders are trash of the galaxy, they deserve to be butchered like the dogs they are, let'm burn baby! Fraggle Rocker 12-13-06, 03:41 PM Soldiers are not warriors. A warrior fights to defend those who cannot defend themselves (because of age, ability, training, etc.), uses the minimum violence possible, and will neither fight for a cause he does not believe in nor fight without honor. A soldier merely follows orders and does not concern himself with honor or right and wrong. A soldier is an extension of his commander. If he fights under the command of a warrior he will fight with honor. If he fights under the command of a politician there is no telling what he might do. Baron Max 12-13-06, 06:24 PM Soldiers are not warriors. Huh? What kinda' bullshit is that??? A soldier merely follows orders and does not concern himself with honor or right and wrong. Ahh, more bullshit! Fraggle, what do you do ....go around making up definitions to suit your own twisted fuckin' logic and reasoning? Baron Max Ganymede 12-13-06, 06:30 PM Wars are about greed.. Period! But I can't blame the Soldiers. I have family serving in the Military. And they're good people. Plus commanders are very good at telling you how evil the other guy is and why you need to kill him. phoenix2634 12-14-06, 01:55 AM Eh, sometimes war is good, sometimes war is bad. To paraphrase a wise man (or maybe a movie) many truths you cling to depend upon your point of view. The necessity of war and its goodness or it badness depends upon your point of view. Also I like multiple answer polls. spuriousmonkey 12-14-06, 02:33 AM jesus...6 chances to write the word soldier correctly and he missed them all. edit: the 6th one is his the second post. Bells 12-14-06, 02:34 AM Ahh, more bullshit! Fraggle, what do you do ....go around making up definitions to suit your own twisted fuckin' logic and reasoning? Baron Max Fraggle is actually correct. A good (good to his commanding officers) soldier follows orders regardless of his own opinion. A bad (bad to his commanding officers) soldier who refuses a direct order because he thinks it's wrong ends up being court marshalled. If, for example, you have a commander who orders his troops to open fire on a house filled with children because a known enemy might be residing in said house, what would a good soldier do? Open fire and risk killing innocent children because he was ordered to do so by his commander? Or refuse on the grounds that his doing so could result in innocent children being killed? Which is honourable to you? Bells 12-14-06, 02:34 AM jesus...6 chances to write the word soldier correctly and he missed them all. LMAO!! sderenzi 12-14-06, 02:43 AM Damn! LMAO Bells 12-14-06, 02:45 AM edit: the 6th one is his the second post. I think it's 7 if you count the thread title.. :p spuriousmonkey 12-14-06, 02:47 AM Oh yeah, forgot about that one. That's what made me click on the thread. I had no idea what a solider was. I thought maybe it was some kind of physics thing or something. sderenzi 12-14-06, 02:08 PM Soldiers are the scum of the earth responsible for carrying out their masters bidding. They kill, hurt, torture, all in the name of a country that would not otherwise exist. The idea land can be owned or that countries have some ultimate life is pathetic, I think the main concept here is that humanity is sick in it's organizing things into soceity, I would gladly watch it all burn :-P SheDevil 12-14-06, 02:30 PM Soldiers are the scum of the earth responsible for carrying out their masters bidding. When did they do that? SheDevil 12-14-06, 02:42 PM When did they do that? "Give me liberty or give me death" ring any bells? SheDevil 12-14-06, 02:50 PM Soliders are trash of the galaxy, they deserve to be butchered like the dogs they are, let'm burn baby! an extract from something American "For those who want to light Old Glory on fire, stomp all over it, or spit on it to make some sort of "statement," I say let them do it. But under one condition: they MUST get permission from three sponsors. First, you need permission of a war veteran....Perhaps a Marine who fought at Iwo Jima? The American flag was raised over Mount Surabachi upon the bodies of thousands of dead buddies. Each night spent on Iwo Jima meant half of everyone you knew would be dead tomorrow, a coin flip away from a bloody end upon a patch of sand your mother couldn't find on a map. Or maybe ask a Vietnam vet who spent years tortured in a small, filthy cell unfit for a dog. Or a Korean War soldier who helped rescue half a nation from Communism, or a Desert Storm warrior who repulsed a bloody dictator from raping and pillaging an innocent country. That flag represented your mother and father, your sister and brother, your friends, neighbors, and everyone at home. I wonder what they would say if someone asked them permission to burn the American flag? Second, you need a signature from an immigrant. Their brothers and sisters may still languish in their native land, often under tyranny, poverty and misery. Or maybe they died on the way here, never to touch our shores. Some have seen friends and family get tortured and murdered by their own government for daring to do things we take for granted every day. For those who risked everything simply for the chance to become an American, what kind of feelings do they have for the flag when they Pledge Allegiance the first time? Go to a naturalization ceremony and see for yourself, the tears of pride, the thanks, the love and respect of this nation, as they finally embrace the American flag as their own. Ask one of them if it would be OK to burn the flag or spit on it. Third, you should get the signature of a mother. Not just any mother. You need a mother of someone who gave their life for America. It doesn't even have to be from a war. It could be a cop. Or a fireman. Maybe a Secret Service or NSA agent. Then again, it could be a common foot soldier as well. When that son or daughter is laid to rest, their family is given one gift by the American people; an American flag. Go on. I dare you! Ask that mother if you can spit on her flag. Away from family, away from the precious shores of home, in the face of overwhelming odds and often in the face of death, the American flag inspires those who believe in the American dream, the American promise, the American vision... " It applies for the Uk too spuriousmonkey 12-14-06, 02:51 PM "Give me liberty or give me death" ring any bells? That weren't soldiers. That were terrorists. Ragnarok 12-14-06, 02:52 PM jesus...6 chances to write the word soldier correctly and he missed them all. edit: the 6th one is his the second post. HAHAHA you know what? i didnt even catch that! lol good one. draqon 12-14-06, 02:53 PM sderenzi keep on posting these. i luv em. SheDevil 12-14-06, 02:54 PM That weren't soldiers. That were terrorists. really? Did we have terrorists in 1775? spuriousmonkey 12-14-06, 02:57 PM terrorists...freedom fighters...all the same. Ask your government. Sandoz 12-15-06, 12:52 PM Soldiers are awesome, as is anyone who serves his country and/or an ideal at the risk of his life. Plus they kill, which is hella sexy! :D Prince_James 12-15-06, 06:55 PM ^ The reason why I love Sandoz. Lord Hillyer 12-16-06, 12:39 AM Fraggle, Spurious: great posts. I feel sorry for the soldiers who are not naturally bastards. I respect those who have/had noble intentions of defending the motherland, etc., but I condemn war as a whole, and all its devices and instigators. Sandoz 12-17-06, 03:39 AM ^ The reason why I love Sandoz.Thank you! :) sderenzi 12-20-06, 06:58 PM Muhahaha, dieeeeeee! freestyle 12-21-06, 12:11 AM lol @ soliders and soilders i didnt see that frattman 12-23-06, 06:31 PM I can speak, from experiance, of the diversity of sodiers in the american national guard. I can also surmise, with some degree of certainty, the differences between part time soldiers and full time ones. Generally, the soldiers I have known (in the guard) are as varied and individual as any random sampling of people on the street. I can imagine that full timers might share a more common ideology towards life, philosophy, and war than us week-end warriors, but still, any claim that they might be a single minded monolith of killers is false. Again, in my experiance, almost all of the soldiers I have known were decent people who had no desire to kill another human being. I will say that there are always the yahoos that want to get shipped off to war, get in a firefight, and proove thier manhood, though this is a very small minority. A few words on War. I have never been in combat. I have a half dozen friends who have. Please do not try to understand the stress and decisions a person must deal with without talking to someone who's had bullets fly thier way. Some of these friends agree with the war in afghanistan and iraq, and some do not - the reality is that the choices are very limited after you sign your soul over to the army. Being ordered to kill someone isn't any excuse, taking pleasure in it is wrong, and ultimately everyone must find thier own peace after facing these things in war. |
