I am just now reading the novel by Stanislaw Lem. I saw the new movie adaptation 2 weeks ago.
Has anyone else seen it?
I went to see it largely because one friend of mine, who has the intelligence and taste of a potted cactus, hated it, so I was pretty sure it would be good. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It might move a little too slowly for some people, but I do not mind movies that are not chock-filled with action.
Who else saw it, and what did you think?

philip wunch, who has the intelligence and taste of---well, of a top movie critic, told me it sucked.
that was verified by the 5 or so other ppl who told me they had seen it.

As a courtesy, please do not vote or bother posting unless you have seen it yourself. The opinions of movie critics are less than worthless, and so far, everyone I have spoken to who did not like it was upset because it was not a mindless shoot-'em-up like "Aliens".

yes, well, i never got the impression solaris was a "mindless shoot-em-up" like "aliens" from the previews. unless george clooney's wife was really a spawn of a predatory, hive-mind race spreading its tentacles throughout the galaxy...come to think of it, i wouldnt put it above that sneaky bitch to do something like that. she WAS in "ronin" after all...

I liked it a lot, even if it was kinda (kinda!) hard to understand.
in the russian version you can't distinguish wheather the actor is dreaming or it is reality, thus the plot is kinda...not understandable

I didn't really know what to expect walking into the movie. And when I walked out I was wondering what just happened. However, this movie was nice solely because it was not a shoot em up or some other movie like so. It sounds like a movie that I could have made up with my own imagination. It was somewhat predictable although the first moments into the movie had me thinking "WTF is going on?". Is it just me or is Clooney's wife really scary? Those big eyes had me wondering if an alien was gonna pop out of her head.
I'd give it a 2.2 out of 5.
