View Full Version : Smudges on Laptop LCD?

Ok, I have these super annoying smudges on my laptop LCD screen (a crystal brite).

I guess they're kinda just finger grease, and can't really been seen on bright screens, but anything darker will show smudges.

How could I remove the smudges without damaging the screen? As I said, it's a crystalbrite, so the colours are supposed to be made more vivid and looks sort of like a CRT. There's the potential there to damage it.

Suggestions

follow the owners manual
if you don't have one the following is my opinion
do not use anything other than mild detergent and a soft rag

There are LCD cleaning cloths, but given the coating your screen has, I second the recommendation to check the owner's manual.

according to the info i can find online
what you have is an acer laptop
it is recommended that the screen be cleaned
with pads purchased for that purpose

rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol and water in a 1:1 ratio is commonly used for cleaning screens. however, I don't know anything about your type of screen. you could try calling tech support, and ask what cleaning solutions work for it. if you get to the store to buy it, and it says its 50% alcohol, just buy the alcohol and dilute it your self.

Thanks for the responses, guys.

Unfortunately, I think I'll have to call tech support. This is an acer laptop (as you found, leopold), and the screen is too damn nice to take a chace with.
