Is it possible, with vBulletin software, to develop a tag that would allow us to align text beside images? As an example, I think it would be aesthetically more pleasing to be able to not isolate images from the text. See #2620825/42 as an example of the issue I'm describing, compared to, well, html markup, which permits text alongside the pictures, such as you might see in a blog post.

Could the conversion from UBB to html possibly involve tags like [imgleft] and [imgright] that would align the images to the left or right margins, and allow text beside them?

    Thank you.

The site originally had the functionality through HTML being allowed, however this generated problems in regards to exploitations.

A simple compromise fix would just be to allow HTML access to Super Moderators and Admins to be used to do any formatting fixes on post edits.

As for an actual bbcode, to generate a margin alignment it would either require using CSS controlled entities that would likely default to the current layout, or an implimentation of tables would have to be applied. In both cases you'd find that some of your post would have to be written into a similar format to a quote tag.

To get it to automatically parse text around an image would require a bit of Vbulletin hacking.

But the question is how many lines of text will the system accommodate. Unlike HTML, the markup we use here only supports one line of text, centered horizontally beside the image. The image above is taken from one of my blogs, and shows multiple lines of text, paragraph breaks, and a quotation offset. I just think it would be really cool if there was some way to do that here. But, as Stryder notes, it's a complicated mess. I'm pretty sure Jelsoft would love it, though, if someone developed a hack they could integrate into future software versions.
