Does anyone enjoy the music of Sigur Ros?

I'm going to their show tonight in Austin. I'm excited!

I enjoy it to relax to since I can't even make out something that sounds like a word in their music.

A review on Amazon.com said Sigur Ros sounded like a bunch of whales "talking" underwater....and they added it sounded like the whales had gas.

I guess it's you love or hate 'em.

Sigur Ros played the most amazing show last night that I have ever seen by any band, except for one. That one superior live band was Tool.

The intensity of the concert was just amazing. Everyone was so attentive and completely focused on the music for an hour and 45 minutes straight. I have never seen a band mesmerize an audience like Sigur Ros did last night. At one point in the show, the band paused in the middle of a song and stayed silent for at least 30 seconds, and I swear to god that everyone in the room held their breath the entire time... Wow.

I kind of have to agree with the whale thing. From the one clip I did hear, it really made no sense. But sounds like good stuff to listen too while concentrating on homework. I'm going to download some and give it a chance. Heck, if I like it I'll even buy the CD. Especially when the quality is so degraded.

Their type of music is apparantly rare, but I don't necessarily think that makes it beautiful or brilliant. Words usually do that for me. Ah well, I will get back to this thread in a few hours...

Yeah...it's fairly thought out music. I think turned down low this would be a great thing to help me concentrate on my homework. Especially when my house has gone to hell - which is most of the time.

But for entertainment purposes, I need something with a bit more meat. In my language, of course.
