View Full Version : Signs
I saw this film Saturday night and I thought it was quite good, not brilliant, but good.
I tried looking for a thread on this without success.
But I did notice a flaw, one that bugged me as soon as I realised it!!
The aliens don't like water right...then how come their skin didn't react to the water vapour in the air?!?
But I did jump when that alien walked past the bushes to the wall in Brazil on the TV. I was just like 'What the fuck!'
And films like that are great to watch when your girlfriend is easily scared ;)
Good film, well thought out, but had the flaw. I liked the way they interpreted why they use crop cirlces and it did have it's humourous moments
Vertigoll 02-10-03, 06:08 PM I didn't like it that much. I thought a lot of the acting was bad, especially by the main guys brother and the children. And what the hell, no little kid would kill a dog with a metal pole, they'd be running, not fighting back. Maybe it's 'cause the kid is a prodigy but that was just weird.
It was tense at some points, like when they were trapped in the basement and the aliens were runnin' all around. I wish they had shown more of the alien forces though, they only showed one or two at a time.
Also, if it was just a raiding force, sent to harvest people, it would have been fairly small, nothing Earth's military can't handle. If a guy can beat the crap outta one with a baseball bat, think of what a bullet can do to them.
Why were there no guns, I want full scale ground based invasion and I want it now!!!
House to house fighting, hand to hand combat, ranged combat, tenticle combat, any combat please!!!
The lack of guns kinda ruined it for me, there was a knife, a bat and a baby monitor, all found in gangster flicks, but not in a Sci-Fi :bugeye:
Pollux V 02-10-03, 07:57 PM I rather enjoyed it. My friends and a great deal of people I know hated it. But I don't care. I remain stalwart!
I thought everything about it was great. I think that the mood the director created, of a sixties ish scifi film coupled with nineties cinematography was just awesome. Large scale battles or a better explanation would have been cool, but it's great the way it is.
pmoores 02-11-03, 07:31 AM Thought it was spookier then most. But then, when i was younger i use to see the 'greys' peaking around the corner of my bedroom door. I was very very afraid.
Thor - I think it's time to watch Independence Day again.
Don't get me started on ID4, I was sooo dissapointed with that film, I don't want ariel battles, I want ground battles, man do I love ground battles
Pollux V 02-15-03, 10:44 AM Thor, did you ever see Band of Brothers?
Get a hold of it if you can. Damn good ww2 fight scenes.
ID4 just sucked. It sucked. Can't convince me otherwise. The fighting was cool, but it sucked.
Woah, back up, you're asking the guy who loves the second world war if I've seen Band of Brothers!!
I own the series, I've seen it over and over again. The one with the concerntarion camp was a bit sickening, but the rest is so cool
When is Independance Day 2 coming out then?
