Ummm... I have enable my preferences so that I can view preferences... Do the signatures only appear in users' profiles, or can they appear in posts too, like I've seen done on other BBSes?

No, they are only visual when you look at the user profiles.

There is already a thread about this elsewhere. But yes, you can edit your signature but they are only viewable from inside the user profile
