View Full Version : Side Topic: Population Control and how it should go down.

Absolutely. And this also comes down to the population. We are becoming overpopulated for the earth to sustain itself. With all of the power hungry items we have today and the continuously growing population, the problem is only going to get worse. You think it's bad now, wait until China and India become the next super powers and modernize all of their populations.

Personally, I think there's eventually going to be some form of population control introduced in the developed nations. Nothing like in China {shudder!} !! More like the opposite of how taxing is currently done in the US. Instead of receiving tax exemptions for each additional child, there might be a penality for all beyond two. Few humane things influence human behavior more than taking their money.

So what would be the ethical (or unethical, however acceptable) solution to lowering the earths population.
I would like to start with the termination of any human who stops being useful to society. This would involve the elderly who no longer work when all they do is vote to save their money, people isolated in a vegetative state, the mentally challenged(only those bringing down society - dont get me wrong - everyone deserves an equal chance to live thei life, but those that just drag down society by sucking up Social Security money should be terminated), the homeless/jobless.
Anyother Ideas or comments??
sure...lets start with you. And than with a gun to your head, ask you if it is ethical.
Thebestchefever 10-16-07, 03:18 PM Hey i am all for it. Quite frankly sacrifice for the better of humanity is a good way to die.
Hell its a lot better than cancer or heart attacks from eating too much McDonalds.

Yeah, right!:bugeye: It's very easy to be "brave" and say that when you're actually not facing the real situation!
Seriously, let me hold the gun and see how you REALLY react as I cock back the hammer. And make no mistake, I would not be opposed to finishing the job on certian individuals here. (They shall remain nameless.)
And, no - you're on a completely wrong track with those thoughts. Euthanasia will never be accepted in ANY rational society. The tax method I described and that you quoted in your post is the best way to handle that problem. I honestly don't think there are any others.
shichimenshyo 10-16-07, 03:30 PM Why start doing this, when we get too overcrowded poverty will increase and econimies collapse, wars will start and disease will spread. When there are too many people on earth it will take care of itself.
the answer is: expansion to SPACE.
We need to invest to space industry!

That sounds like a good idea - except for one tiny little detail: the world could NEVER afford the cost of shipping off a significant number of people into space. Never will happen for only the purpose of reducing the population - NEVER.

... you are soooo wrong there pal.
Thebestchefever 10-16-07, 03:40 PM Don't mistake me for a weak ass blogger who just goes out and talks about shit he doesn't know about. I served for 2 years in the US Marine Corps from late 2003 to late 2005 in "Operation Iraqi Freedom" and past when it turned to "Phantom Freedom". You try running into Fallujah taking point for your squad, it is not as easy as in your crappy video games. I would give anything for my country and for the world make no mistake.
Sure I may not be the smartest guy here but that doesn't mean I am not curious and care about what other people have to say. You think what you want Read-Only, but I doubt you've even held a gun before.

You're only showing your sheer ignorant state there bud! I was in the army (infantry) long before you were born - tell me, mister know-it-all: ever heard of a place called 'Nam?:bugeye: And I've blasted the hell out of more enemy soldiers - one on one - than you've probably ever seen. You would be MUCH better off to ask questions before running off at the mouth! And I would be even MORE happy to hold that gun to your face now, if you're still making the offer.
Mod Edit: That is not the best response to something you find repugnant.

Oh really??? And just WHERE are you going to get all that money and equipment, eh? Let's see you answer THAT one with any degree of reality!

You were saying that in future there is no way that mass number of people can be transported to space economically.
Well you are wrong! The cost to transport humans to space has been going down and will go down. Just compare cost for modified SpaceShipTwo module and the Soyuz/Apollo rockets ...
Engineering can solve any task.
spidergoat 10-16-07, 03:58 PM Economic success and empowerment of women lead to reduced birth rates.

Well Read-Only as far as I am concerned if you are immature enough to go ahead and threaten someone on a forum i doubt you were in Vietnam, in addition since you would be willing to SHOOT a fellow soldier in the head I highly doubt your military status no one I met in the marines would ever shoot another soldier - regardless.
Read-Only If you really were in the marines you are a disgrace to that military organization and this country. Thank you for ruining not only a thread with your negativity and bulldogging but for ruining my opinion of you as a respectable and knowledgeable human being. And yes that offer still stands.

Too cheap to pay attention, aren't you?:bugeye: I never threatened anyone, just said I was willing to take you up on your offer. And I NEVER said marines - clearly said ARMY. And your being a fellow soldier has nothing to do with with your clearly ignorant state of mind. Just having been in the military gets you no special points with me - and a mere TWO YEARS at that!!! I'm sure Iraq was no walk in the park but at least you didn't have women and children running up to you carrying 30 pounds of live greandes and were forced to shoot them or die. I still have nightmares over that.

Right. In other words, you have absolutely NO idea how much it would cost to ship BILLIONS of people to another planet, do you? That's a totally childish idea that could never be done. You've read too much scifi and watched way to many movies and TV shows. Give your self about ten more years to grow up a little and THEN try figuring out the costs. LOL!!!!!

Never fear - if it will make you feel better about your thread and topic, I'll go back and delete all my responses to you. Deal?

I'm not going to whack a topic just because it failed to bring responses according to its original desire. Most of our topics would be deleted for such a criterion if we made that part of the policy. Throughout the more subjective fora (EM&J, Politics, Religion, &c.), and even into some of the more objective ones (sciences), there are many, many posters whose acceptable context for responding to any discussion is "anything but what the topic poster wants".
To the other, sometimes folks dig themselves holes they wish they hadn't.
In the meantime, let's consider this a lesson learned on all parts, and y'all can keep arguing about who needs to die from the vantage of the Cesspool if you're so inclined.
