Apparently, the current system doesn't work for organ donation, there is a global organ shortage. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121089708343197205.html?mod=opinion_main_commentaries I did have an idea of prisoners getting a cut of their jailtime for organs! Anyway, freemarkets for organs, good idea or bad?
If I can't sell my ass, then a man shouldn't be able to sell a kidney. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Off-hand, it sounds like a reasonable way to make money....you can always just find a link to the black market though.
syxygys there are other options. For instance an opt out system where your relitives cant say no and the defult is donation. If you care and are to lasy to sign a piece of paper saying you dont want to be a donor to bad. Also once your 18 your relitives shouldnt have a say in wether your a donor or not. YOU should make that decision and they should live with it
There are millions of poor people not in America where 25K for a kidney means building a house or else. Would you offer it legally, I am sure millions would volunteer....
Back in my college years I presented a paper on current execution methods in the US. I proposed that a felon that is sent to death row should be screened, if he or she met certain criteria, be place on a special diet, exercised, and his whole body be auctioned off with the profits given to the family of the deceased. He would be considered executed when the brain was removed from the body and placed in a jar.
In the capital punishment thread that's what I advocated, except I don't see reasons why the family of a criminal should get money basicly crimes commited. The executed simply became an organ donor....
why is there a fear of legalising it? people waking up withs scars along their sides in baths filled with ice? is the demand for organs great enough to cause a crime wave?
Obviously not, that's why we have like 50K people just in the USA (probably more, look it up) waiting for organs... Oh, ignorance.... Edit: I looked it up: --Over 97,000 people are waiting today for transplant surgeries, per the official U.S. government web site for organ and tissue donation — each waiting for "the gift of life." --Each day, about 74 people receive an organ transplant. --However, 17 people die each day waiting for transplants that can't take place because of the shortage of donated organs.
