I wouldn't. If I was going to get a modern handgun (for any normal use anyway), I would get a SiG You can get a SiG ARMS (the north american branch of the ultra high quality Swiss gun manufacturer, I think they import mass amounts of guns from Switzerland to america so you don't have the god awful cost of buying from over seas) gun.

Some of the best guns in the world are not manufactured in america. I would get a .40 cal or 10mm with a 10 shot magazine. Get a good finish as well (no low quality nickel or plastic glock guns). Make sure the gun has gotten good scores for marksmanship.

Well it has a carbine conversion kit that'll be coming out soon. I think it would be cool to have the longer barrel on it, plus the stock looks awesome. I found a few other good reviews for it, but i forget the sites.

Well I already have throwing knives, CIA sleeve daggers, a beastly razor sharp machette (i can shave with it), a bolo knife, a katana, and a walking stick that conceals a full length rapier blade. I'll be getting some wind and fire wheels and some hook swords soon. I just need a gun.

It looks nice though. I don't own guns because it is waste of money. I highly doubt I will ever use it. I use something else if I need to.

Still, it's fun to shoot stuff, and it would be good to be able to practice in case I ever did have to use one in a real situation. Plus if I went up against a guy with a gun, I wouldn't stand a chance if I used one of my swords, etc. Even a .22 can drop someone if they get it in the face.

Get it if you think it is fun. Personally I am very prone to accidents. I don't want a gun anywhere near me. I probably get shot somehow even if the gun is unloaded. I also don't hide things very well.

actually, i was kidding. but...it sounds like you DO need a gun.

or, you could just keep buying knives and be like the badasses in the movies who open their jackets to reveal 60 'mini-knives.' and scare everyone off.

personally, if i were robbing you with a gun, i would be much more frightened if you lobbed a katana into my buddies head than if you pulled out a pistol. everyone has guns.

but then again, im biased. i think it would be cool to see someone take down a gun-toting thief with a small blade. what a badass.

oh, and you have one of those walking sticks with a hidden rapier?

christ, you should walk down the street dressed as an old man in a business suit (load some twenties into your back pocket, let em flap in the breeze), wait for someone to rob you, then cut them in half.

hmm, sounds like a project for halloween.

Actually, a rapier is designed for impaling people, but if you swung it real hard you could still give 'em a nice beheading due to small surface area of the edge. Here's my stick:

Your favorite gal Mallory Knox thinks butterfly knifes are cooler. You should carry one in public. You can pickup some chicks.

What the f*** is so cool about a knife that takes more than 5 seconds to open? I can draw that sword in .5! and trust me, getting that through your innards would be a lot more painful than some clumsy little letter opener.

You are confused with Swiss army knife. If a butterfly knife takes 5 seconds to open, gangs wouldn't use it.

No, I'm not. I think you're thinking of a switchblade. A butterfly knife is called such because it's handle, which can be folded over the blade, much like the wings of a butterfly.(although really more like a moths, butterflys rest with their wings upright

Just get some chinese stars man. That's what I'd use. You see, swords don't have range really, you can throw them but they are not designed for that (they weight alot and are big).

The problem with things like knives and swords, if you throw them, you could wind up striking your assailant with the handle, not the edge part. The handle is probably round and made of plastic or wood, meant for fitting in your hand to grab the weapon, won't do much damage. If you throw something like that which might spin around in the air, the heavy end (which is generally the blade) might not wind up hitting them.

You'd have to buy special knives and train to use them right, takes skill.

With chinese stars however, they usually have at least 4 "spikes" protruding from them (a small circular inside with triangles coming out, like sharks teeth so to speak). There's no way you couldn't hit them with a sharp edge because they are too long.

On top of that, there's no law against carrying them around, or age limit! I don't think you need a concealed weapons permit for a knife unless it is over 8 inches long (but you can legally carry it at your side in the open if it is inside of a sheath). And even if you were "caught", you wouldn't get in nearly as much trouble as having a gun.

Bad part is, if you are carrying them wrong positioned towards your body, you could slip, fall, and kill youself (accidents Joeman) - which is why it is necessary to carry them properly. Also, you can cut your finger if you don't throw them right.

Only other thing is, they are not very effective in extreme CQB (like if someone's skin is inches from your body). You'd have to stab someone at that range because I don't see how you could throw something (and get any good momentum anyway). And there is nothing to hold the stars by where you could stab someone else without slicing through your own hand.

But somehow I don't think you'd be very successful pulling out a 4 foot sword and throwing it as someone 50 feet away from you
