Seven New Moons for jupiter, total now is 47!
The satellites are named S/2003 J1 through S/2003 J7. All have retro-grade orbits, except for J1 and J6 which are the prograde.

Discovered march 5 2003

cool.

there's gotta actually be more than 47. they find new ones so often.

is there anything particularly interesting about any of them or are they just hunks of rock?

Once you`ve see one , you have seen them all!

Nope, they are just rubble, 1km or bigger asteroids really.

47 is just the official number, but there are probably 100s more to be found...

They must.
The running cout now is 52, the last 4 are less than 2km in diameter (two are less than 1 km)... (S2003 j12 is the last on 10/3/03)
