I wonder where, in the enlistment paperwork, it stated that if you cannot fulfill your time of service due to an injury due to military service, you have to return your enlistment bonus. This is absolutely cold blooded the ranks of the US military is staffed by those from the poorer areas of the US and are being treated like deceitful welfare applicants . This contempt is indicative that these victims are seen as expendable canon fodder .Take note Americans , that if , America invades Iran this situation will become even worse , the human wreckage of the Democratic/Republican Juntas war will litter Americas cities .

Foley it was congress who wrote the rules on Bonus's, and it appears that Congress will correct the situation.

Congress is the branch of government that write the Laws that run our services, and I have a question as to why now this is becoming a problem.

Remember I am a vet, and I still have many contacts in the Military and in the V.A. system, I received a signing bonus for my last re-enlistment, and was injured and medically separated from service, and no one tried to make me pay back the Bonus that I received, But then I forget that the democrats are now the ones in Control of Congress, and I have seen enough of what happens to veterans under the Democrats to know where the problem probably stems from, every time the Democrats control Congress our benefits end up being cut.

Wow, that's bullshit. How about we take that small bonus out of the overpaid (compared to our soldiers) Blackwater forces instead, or better yet, the paychecks of the idiots who wrote that law able to take back those bonuses in the first place.

Was that oversight of being able to take back signing bonuses created before, or after, Democrats took control of Congress? And is it Congress' fault that Bush wants to cut veteran health care?

Never heard of it happening before the last congress went into session, and as I said, I was medically retired before my last enlistment ran out, and I had recieved a $10,000 bonus, and I wasn't approached about having to give any of it back.

Problem to whom ? As far as I can deduct this is another attempt to skim on the costs of this war on the third world at the expense of their own soldiers .
There is only one party in America and that is the Demopublicans , the sooner you wake up and realise that you live in a Plutocracy the better .

Foley for all your bluster, there is a sad lack of any intelligent thought in your ranting.

You don't know jack shit about the U.S., and you certainly don't know Jack shit about how our government runs.

There are a lot of things I don't like about the Government, but living here, and being a retired veteran, and having personnel involvement in the way our government treats the veteran, I can tell you that the Democrats have always found ways to screw the military first and the veterans second because our moneys come from the military budget, every time the Demorats are in charge or the purse string, money becomes tight in V.A. and cutback in service happen monthly, cost of living raises to our retirement drop below 2.5% and the wounded and injured veterans get screwed.

So don't tell me that I don't know who put the screws to the Guys who protect this country, and then because of their services need the medical care that was promised by the Government, and that seems to disappear under the Demorats.

Now, just why is the Democratically controlled Congress leaving on Holiday with out providing the proper funding for the Troops who have their lives on the Line in Afghanistan and Iraq, I predict that the President will start with drawing troops by next year, not because the Demorats forced him to but because the violence in Iraq is down by 70% and the tactical situation is such that he can authorize those with drawls.

So put what little brains you have back into you skull, when you take them out all you do is loose more of the little sense that you have.

We call them the Republocrats because that's easier to say. There are "third parties" in America and they have more power than one might guess, especially looking in from across the sea.

The Communist Party never won a national-level election, just a few seats on city councils and such. Yet they kept making a stronger showing in every election and it seemed like a matter of time before one would make it to the House of Representatives. This scared the Republocrats, so they took the simple expedient of co-opting the third party's platform. Today, both Democrats and Republicans endorse the entire 1929 Communist Party platform and treat it as though it's something sacred that they invented. They've nationalized entire industries like charity and education, and have effectively nationalized others such as energy, health care and transportation. It was President Eisenhower--a Republican, a member of our "conservative" party--who completed the transformation of America in the Communist image, more than fifty years ago, by establishing the Department of Health, Education and Welfare. A non-dogmatic look at America would suggest that we are now in many ways a model socialist state--especially by our own traditional standards of hard work and free markets--with the advantage that our form of socialism more or less works. And the Communist Party accomplished this.

The Green Party has been particularly strong in the past few elections. The city council in nearby Arcata, California, has a Green Party majority. The thousands of redwood trees in Arcata and the people who sit in them are safe from the evil lumberjacks and their greedy corporate masters. The Green Party is the political arm of the powerful environmental movement and you can bet that both Republocrat parties are keeping a watchful eye on it. They have both been much softer on environmental issues than their own greedy corporate masters would like. Since the Green Party typically steals votes from the so-called "liberal" Democrats, it's been suggested that all the votes for Green candidate Ralph Nader in the 2000 election were the reason than Al Gore lost and we now have a Religious Redneck Retard Republican in the White House. No one will ignore the Greens again.

The Libertarian Party, which is the one I belong to, is mighty small but its principles of smaller government, individual liberty, and letting foreign nations solve their own problems resonate with a lot of people in the era of the Nanny State, the Homeland Gestapo and the Wars on Islam and Drugs. We're the opposite of the Greens and tend to siphon votes away from Republican candidates, whose more traditional supporters are fed up with their party increasing the government's power and budget. In Montana, one of our smallest states, the Libertarian candidate for U.S. Senate drew several tens of thousands of votes, and that was enough for the Republican candidate to lose the election and the Democrat to win. You may remember that the Democrats have a one-vote majority in the Senate. You can thank the Libertarians for that. As a foreigner you surely don't know that Ron Paul, one of the leading prospects for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008, is a small-l libertarian and was the Libertarian Party presidential candidate twice. In a savvy political move he changed affiliation to the Republicans so he could woo their more libertarian-minded contingent. The Republicans haven't got a better candidate for next year, so they might just go ahead and nominate him on the theory that he'll bring in all the voters who are tired of too-big-for-its-britches government. If he wins, his first official act will be to start bringing troops home from Iraq, immediately, as fast as the planes can fly. Then he'll start looking for other ways to cut the federal budget by 90%, back to what it was only twenty years ago. If that happens, you can thank the Libertarian Party.
Come on guys, keep it civil. I know that's especially hard on the politics boards, and that's why we have to try all the harder to do it.

This is a place of science so please use the scientific method to your advantage. Scientists don't call each other stupid. They challenge each other's extraordinary assertions and demand that they provide extraordinary substantiation for them--a cornerstone of the scientific method. If Foley has said something you find to be absurd, then challenge him to provide proof or evidence to support it. If he doesn't do that but keeps pressing his argument without substantiation, then he'll be guilty of trolling, which is a violation of the rules, and grounds for banning.

Of course you'll also be responsible for substantiating your own arguments if he calls you on it. That is called debate and that's what we expect to see in a place of science. It's a lot more interesting and educational to observe than a couple of guys calling each other names.

We're all free to take our lab coats off once in a while and act silly. We can shoot rubber bands and throw erasers at each other and it's all harmless fun. But if you actually and seriously object to something somebody says, then put your lab coat back on and resume acting like a scientist.

Now please explain where anything Foley has posted has any merit to qualify as intelligent debate? Foley is a bigoted, loud mouth, communist racist.

Hi fraggle, I'm a libertarian my self.
The true power of 3rd parties is not that they will win elections. Rather they can siphon off enough votes from the majors to get the GOP or the Dems to co-opt our stance. No prohibitionist won a national election but prohibition was the law of the land for several years.

Lets not get carried away here , remember Reaganomics is freemarket economic ideology .
Thats a stretch on the imagination especially when you have health insurance and college loans to purchase said services . Education and Health care are human rights they should be free and available to all .
Libertarianism was last in full swing during the Victorian age , an era of mass deprivation , abject poverty and the few who had vast wealth .
Shut up , if it has not dawned on you yet that it is the wealthy who runs your country and the political parties are funded by these rich persons and corporations who with the media empires sell this shit to the SHEEPLE who buy it without fail every election , then what more can I say .
    Meet the SHEEPLE
There is a sucker born every minute .
