What a bummer that "Segway" was introduced the way it was......talk about missed opportunities! It would have made a much better impact if Kamen had kept this under wraps until the product debuted as a product placement in a new matrix flick or something.........get everyone buzzin about the ACTUAL product.........and by the time it aired......WHAMO!!! "segway" has already been produced in large numbers ready for a MASS roll out!

Maybe that's what I'll do with my latest "segway" eclipsing tech toy.......stay tuned.......same BAT time .............same BAT channel !

yah, the hype kinda made me expect something along the lines of an electrified fooling machine....but all we got was a scooter. Nuts.

Kind of reminds me of the advertisement used by con-men but cleverly done so, so as not to fraudulantly get money out of the public, e.g.

50 disposable lighters all for $1 US
send money to :

Blah blah blah
your going to be had
the 53 state.

You send the money, and recieve....
A box of 50 matches. (which you could buy way cheaper!)

This all reminds smth of a non-pleasant sci-fi movie, where future is depicted like--- humans are degenerated, machines do all for them, they cannot even walk, legs have atrofated(become unusable)[segaway:D]
They don't reproduce and in the end it is just containers filled with aged human bodies, who shout for their death, but life support system doesn't allow them to die. And later.....
Machines get rusty and all stops, a dead planet, a freak show for aliens.

Maybe I was too pessimistic about our future:D, but segway- I better go to gym and pump my muscles, so tht I can walk, not eat hamburgers[americans:)] and buy a cart to go about my apartment.
It is maybe good for sick people, but healthy ones have got to stop moaning and get on!
Get on guys[girls], be natural and don't degenerate.

BTW, you of course know that astronauts without any training lose their bone mass, cells and spoil their health up there.
Why? because they don't use their muscles!
!Good Luck!

This must be one of the dumbest ideas for a product to date. It is enough that people depend so much on cars, but now we aren't supposed to walk at all. Who will pay for such an unecessary piece of junk?

Good question. Who will pay for this........the same people who will pay for a National I.D. mark system, that's who. The same gullible people who already pay for myriad pork barrel projects like bike paths to no where that people can't use because they turn out to be on a nuclear waste dump. I could go on ad nauseum.........speaking of nauseum.....I think I must stop there for now!

A story just gleaned from the grapevine has it that the next installment in the Lord of the rings trilogy due to be released in December of 2002 will have Dean Kamen's Segway scooter in several scenes as a product placement......................................... .................................................. .................................................. not!
