I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the making of a Second X-Files Feature Length film, and I was wondering if anyone could volunteer more recent information on this movie.
So far I have heard that David Duchovny is definite that this will happen. I have also heard rumors that Chris Carter has started working on a script. Any truth behind this rumor?
Know of anything else?
I found this on Yahoo! movies
Release Date: TBA 2005 (possibly in the summer)
Distributor: 20th Century Fox
Release Date Notes:
6/11/00 - This movie will most likely be released in the summer of the year following the last season of the TV series. With a 9th season of the show possible for 2001-2002, this would suggest a release in 2003...? TVGuide.com reported in February, 1999 that Chris Carter said the delay between the finale and the movie could even be two years, which would imply 2004 (if 2001-2002 is the last season). (11/7/01) Variety confirms that the earliest we could see it is Christmas, 2003. (4/12/02) Chris Carter told Cinescape this week that the most likely year of release is now 2004. (10/8/03) I've received word that this film is still a possibility, but 2005 would now be the target year.
Production Company: Ten Thirteen Productions (Chris Carter's company; primarily known for The X-Files)
Cast: David Duchovny (Agent Fox Mulder), Gillian Anderson (Agent Dana Scully); other cast not announced yet. It's quite possible that some of the TV show's other cast will also make some sort of appearance.
Director: Not announced yet.
New Cast Note:
7/21/00 - With David Duchovny only doing 11 episodes in the 2000-2001 season, Robert Patrick has been brought aboard as a new character. So, when this movie is eventually made, he may appear in it as well. (1/3/01) Annabeth Gish will also be joining the cast of the TV show as of 2/25/01 as another agent.
Screenwriter: Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz (writing team of 1998's The X-Files)
