What's that mean? I'm guessing something bad. My roomamtes computer won't boot, it stops part way through and gives that message. Any ideas how to fix it?

Was his computer working fine before? Or did he just get a new computer/ make hardware changes? If it was working fine before he should just check and make sure that there are no loose/unplugged cables.

And this suggestion from someone trying to help someone with the same error.

"You may have a jumper option on the back of that CD drive that needs to be changed. There will be a legend to tell you how to place the jumper for master, slave or drive select. And, you will need to put the drive on the proper connector for your jumper selection. The cable should be marked with master or slave. From the error you are getting, it sounds like you have the drive set as slave, and plugged into the secondary master cable. If this is the case, change the jumper to master, and you may be OK."
