View Full Version : Sciforums now has an "unofficial" chat room
sisyphus__ 07-25-07, 06:07 PM It has been done.
Sciforums.com has it's own chat room.
http://chat.parachat.com/chat/login.html
The place is full of sexatics. But fear not. We have a room specifically for sci-forums members. The room is called sciforums and the password should be sciforumsdot com.
All sciforums members are welcome to come and chat. We are in the progress of chatting right now, and it feels like home almost.
Hope you all recognize the potential for this chat room.
spidergoat 07-25-07, 06:09 PM Horray, now we can finally talk to each other...by...typing...on the computer.
SagaciousMind 07-25-07, 06:10 PM *sex addicts
Nikelodeon 07-25-07, 06:10 PM Horray, now we can finally talk to each other...by...typing...on the computer.
Yes but we can insult each other faster. Jackass.
Yikes. I'll check back in later. It's not that I object to virtual sex. But bad virtual sex is worse than bad sex.

peace.

Hehe...that's what I was thinking too! Nothing like real-time insulting!
sisyphus__ 07-26-07, 05:15 PM hey. dude above me... create that room please?
password it with sciforumsdotcom
room name sciforums
i want and am ready to get the chatting going, it should always be open when ever a member wants to chat, this is the premise here.
sisyphus__ 07-26-07, 05:23 PM it was open last night. for some reason, today it isn't open. it should be.
yes the name of the room is sciforums (we can always change it...)
i think sciforums name is copyrighted.
sisyphus__ 07-26-07, 05:30 PM well do sciforum lol
somebody open the damn room i'm waiting
that chatroom freezes on me
original 07-26-07, 05:48 PM There was a room called "Sciforums" that required no password.
It was not infected by the habitual masturbators that crowd the other rooms.
Too bad there were so few people in the room though.

note this chat room should always be open for whenever a sciforum member feels like going to the "unoffical" chat room
sisyphus__ 07-26-07, 06:03 PM i'm there. others need to realize that this is our chat room and should join accordingly!

Carcano 08-05-07, 12:17 PM were havin a smartypants party and YOU'RE all invited !!!
:p Great! maybe this will drain off some of the worst aspects of the forum.
Lord Hillyer 08-05-07, 01:22 PM This chat service lowers the bar of suckiness to an extent I would have heretothought quite unlikely in this year of MMVII.
TruthSeeker 10-28-07, 06:31 PM Is this the beginning of the end?
Why is there no sciforums irc channel??
Stryder 11-10-07, 04:26 AM IRC channels can be made with a number of different hosts, admittedly an IRC server is a little more bandwidth abused (I use to run a simple one a FreeBSD box and I found the dedicated server would easily topple over Eggdrops and Slutbots)
The main problem is that not everybody can push the limits of their PC based upon their limited knowledge, which means everything has to be kept 'User Friendly' which means if they know nothing about IRC then there is a likelihood that they won't be able to connect (with at least a dozen questions on why their attempts are failing).
I will look into seeing if I can find somewhere to host a Channel, unfortunately though for entire communities to use an IRC channel the hosts usually charge a premium.
[Updated]
For the most part the way most IRC servers work is thus, An unofficial channel is created, if the channel is used and frequented by people (And not abused by bots) it can usually be upgraded to a permanent channel status. So basically finding a home to setup an unofficial one and then having people use it is the important factor before considering long term channels or even Dedicated servers.
cosmictraveler 11-10-07, 05:40 AM YUCK! I feel so dirty! I'll never go into that room again.
