Saudi Arabia has set aside 800m dollars for its food supply, i.e. it will transfer its agriculture to countries better situated to produce crops. The kingdom was forced to phase out its domestic wheat production (by 2016) because its water supply is limited and is now looking abroad after many countries it imported food from have started implementing trade restrictions.

I thought this part very significant

They've been growing wheat but their water supply is limited. Water is going to be the next oil. Its wise of them to invest in agriculture now in other countries. Plus, I like the idea that they will also supply food to the countries where they will grow it. I think thats an excellent precedent for other Gulf countries too.

I hope they will also take the opportunity to invest in infrastructure in the poorer countries. They have excellent infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and their experience and wealth will be beneficial to others.

Wasn't there a guy, like 300 years ago, who wrote about this in something? Don't think he called it outsource though....

If you didn't catch my disgust at your ignorance of simple capitalism, the guy's name was Adam Smith, and the book he published in 1776 was called The Wealth of Nations.

    This here:
Is total bullshit. Not only is he lying, but he's lying to assuage the skepticism of people who don't understand math, like sam, apparently.

Do explain? I'm assuming that they will portion off the part of the produce that constitutes zakat [Islamic tax] for the local people.

You erroneously assume that market economics is a zero-sum game, which it is not.

Funny how globalism is only ok when Muslims are doing it.

So ......you think that all Islamic nations, countries, areas, etc operate exactly the same way????? If so, then perhaps "we" are right in viewing Muslims as all the same ......even YOU do it!!
