    this is not a sci fi series i appreciate that, but i found it on the internet a few days ago and watched the first part last night, and i loved it, it has Amanda Tapping in it from stargate!

    ============

    Sanctuary is a Canadian fantasy television series. It originally premiered as a series of webisodes distributed over the Internet. The success of these webisodes led SCI FI to pick up the series for a more traditional television-based 13-episode season.[1]

    Sanctuary stars Canadian actress Amanda Tapping as Dr. Helen Magnus, an English doctor specializing in xenobiology and cryptozoology who seeks to help so-called 'monsters' by running the titular 'Sanctuary for All'. She recruits Dr. Will Zimmerman (Robin Dunne), a forensic psychiatrist, to assist her in reaching people and gaining their trust so they can be helped. Other Sanctuary staff include Henry Foss (Ryan Robbins), a weapons designer & computer expert; and Ashley Magnus (Emilie Ullerup), Helen's daughter and self-proclaimed monster hunter.

    The series premiered on October 3, 2008 on The Movie Network and Movie Central in Canada and SCI FI in the U.S. A number of members of the cast and staff have also worked on Stargate SG-1 and related shows.[2

    Plot
    Main article: List of Sanctuary episodes
    Sanctuary follows the exploits of Dr. Helen Magnus (Amanda Tapping) as she seeks out all manner of terrifying and monstrous creatures. Some of these creatures she needs to lock up to protect the public, and some of them she needs to protect from the public. She is aided in her quest by her reluctant protégé Will Zimmerman (Robin Dunne), her intrepid, if somewhat reckless, daughter Ashley (Emilie Ullerup), the talkative geek Henry Foss (Ryan Robbins), a computer and security expert, and Bigfoot (uncredited actor), her taciturn Neanderthal-like assistant.

    The central plots of the webisodes and TV episodes that cover the same story line are the same, yet like different eye witnesses recounting the same events, there are some relatively significant discrepancies in the actions, dialogue, and guest characters between the webisodes and TV versions.

    Yes I have been watching it and it isn't getting any better. I don't like her fake accent that much. A place where the "freaks" live in peace but there seems to be more "freaks" outside living just fine it would seem so that kind of hurts the idea of the plot.

    I like it. It does something that most British and some American sci fi does. It treats you as if your an intelligent person. Also its kinda funny at times.

    I've seen a few episodes. I can't quite get into it.

    I want Sam Carter to be... well... Sam Carter.

    I liked her in Stargate Atlantis better than Sanctuary.

    The last episode with the submarine was very disappointing to me.

    I've watched it, and they've just about lost me. Nubbins? The shapeshifting plane crash monster? The submarine episode? Nicolo Tesla is a very young man who became a vampire?

    There has not been a single episode that i'd rate excellent only "meh, it's not like there's any other good sci-fi on TV these days."

    If the show was not getting extra credit for having Samantha Carter, I think I'd probably loathe it.

    Agreed. I seem to fall asleep during most episodes. Todays wasn't too bad. I stayed awake the whole episode. anyway. Did I miss the bit where the father explained how he happened to still be alive after 180 years?

    No, he never got into his past life and just thanked his daughter for helping him remove the cockroach from his back so that he can now get on with whatever he is going to now. You did see him being thawed by the evil empire didn't you, before they put Mr. Roach into him to control him? He did say however that he would always be "close by" so I guess we will see more of him IF this series continues but it is looking rather weak to me.
